Very nice, Kathy. I am happy for your Mom. Have a great Thanksgiving.
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
Thanks, unique, for the troops!!
Publius.....#50!!
Kathy-My aunt and Uncle have a similar set up and they have a short, half moon shaped hand rail at the bottom of the stairs just to help step off that last step.
Thanks for sharing those neat pictures.
The railing on the side opposite the chair needs to be returned and reinstalled. The municipality insists on certain things....the ends have to make a 90 degree turn into the wall. They cannot be open ended...you might catch something on them. As soon as that rail is reinstalled we will see if she needs "something", some other handhold, for the last step....which she must use backwards. Those of us with knee issues find going up is much easier than going down. So she must back down. If need be I can have that last step be only 1/2 as high by having a platform installed.
A continuous stairlift like this would have been over $18,000 installed. And what we have would be removed.
For the time being it is one day at a time.
Welcome home and RIP
