PPP: US Senate IL: Dick Durbin (D) 51% - Jim Oberweis (R) 36%
I'm 51. Not counting selling my home, I have enough to live until I'm 85 on $45k/yr without working anymore. It's getting more and more tempting by the day to just say "screw it" and go completely Galt.
“Hes the best we have...”
Are we supposed to fall for the ‘vote for the lesser of two evils’ jargon in regards to Rutherford? Sorry, Mark Kirk will be the last ‘vote for the lesser of two evils’ candidate I will ever vote for. If they are not traditional value candidates - forget it!
It’s time the GOP party pulled for the ‘best of the best candidates. If not, I do not forsee this as a viable party in the future.
I hear ya. Hope all goes well.
The last guy I really, really liked was Peter Fitzgerald. We got burned when the Combine burned him. I’m with you, but I fight with the Army I have. Where’s this best of the best candidate(s)’?
Peter Fitzgerald was a class act through and through. What the Republican Party did to him in this state should've gotten each one of the centrist/rino bastards tarred, feathered and hung by their necks. (I don't think I'm exaggerating there either.)
If it weren't for Peter Fitzgerald, we'd have NEVER had Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation) appointed as the US Attorney for this area, and without him we'd likely still be under either the corrupt George Ryan or Rod Blagojevich regimes. He did much to clean up political corruption in this state (although there's still quite a bit) and we have Peter Fitzgerald to thank for appointing Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation.)
“Wheres this best of the best candidate(s)?”
In my estimation: Rauner is OUT, Rutherford is OUT.
Brady had 8 years to prove himself, so that leaves Dillard. He may have voted for the illegals to obtain licenses, but he did not cast a vote that resulted in civil unions, homosexual marriage, & the indoctrination of every public school child with the Illinois Comprehensive Sex Education Act. (It is a domino effect)
Tom Cross, whose vote passed the homosexual marriage bill, is OUT as Illinois Treasurer.
Kirk was on Chicago radio recently, and when asked, he could not say that he would support a Republican running against his buddy Dick Turbin.
Bruce and Dan?
“Youre fiercer than God.”
Not by a longshot.
“What if there are just a few good people, will you still destroy this state?”
The people of Illinois are destroying that state. I’m not doing anything to it.
It sounds like most freepers are on the same page with the Governor's race. All four candidates are "meh" but Rauner and Dillard are unacceptable, with Rauner being the worse. I'm glad the latter two have spent most of their time beating each other up. It's really weird to see how many "conservative activists" that were in the Andrejewski camp are on Dillard's side this time around. Talk about polar opposite.... Dillard is the ultimate insider. He may be "conservative" on paper, but I wouldn't trust this guy for dog catcher after he appeared in an Obama campaign ad (naturally, he's "sorry" about it, once he started running for Governor, of course). And Rauner is unacceptable on every level -- liberal AND in bed with Democrats. My dad actually said he's leaning Rauner. Puke.
Can most freepers also agree that Bob Grogan is preferable to Tom Cross for Treasurer?
It's an open secret that Kirk is supporting his buddy Dick Durbin for re-election over any of Kirk's "fellow" Republicans. Yet many conservatives will still deny the existence of the combine and ridicule the idea that there are numerous "Republicans" in Illinois that are in bed with the Dems. Idealogy doesn't make any difference either: Kirk and Rauner are liberal combiners, while Dillard and Hasert are "conservative" combiners.
Is Oberweis running AGAIN???!!! Enough already!
Rauner has TV ads already I’m sure you’ve seen them. One of them has a lame pun, I’ve forgotten it. He fails to mention his close association with Rahmbo, of course.
With Schillerstrom dropping out last month (in favor of anointed candidate Cross) we have 3 candidates for Treasurer. Cross would be my last choice, barf.
Grogan is clearly very qualified, an actual accountant. Michael Scott Carter is interesting.

There’s only 1 candidate I see listed for Sec of State, Buissnessman Will Lindsay

I can’t believe that senile old fool White is running AGAIN.
2 candidates for AG, Lawyers Paul Schimpf and Mike Webster

Topinka has no primary challenger for Comptroller that I’m aware of. Topinka versus Simon’s dog of a daughter who’s abandoning her useless current post. Libertarian Julie Fox is running again.
No separate primary for LT Governor anymore. Now the gubernatorial candidates choose running mates and run together.
Quinn chose Paul Vallas.
Brady is running with Long Grove Mayor and failed congressional candidate Maria Rodriguez.
Rutherford with failed AG nominee Steve Kim.
Dillard with State Rep. Jil (with one “L”) Tracy of downstate Mount Sterling.
And Rauner with Wheaton Coucilwoman Evelyn Sanguinetti.
Oh you didn’t hear? He is indeed. He won a State Senate seat in 2012, it’s not up in 2014 so he’s free to waste his time running for high office again. Guy can’t take a hint, clearly thinks he’s entitled to the job. He should stick to making ice cream.
I agree that Grogan is the best treasurer candidate.
Mike Webster changed his mind. He’s running for secretary of state, not attorney general.
Thanks, I’ll let the webmaster http://www.politics1.com/ know so he can update his page with the correct information.
Any thoughts on Webster V. Lindsay?
If Oberweis is as bad at making ice cream as he is at being a candidate, I’ll pass on the ice cream.
I found it delicious, haven’t had any in a while. I’ve heard other freepers trash his products though.
