On Election Day this year, CBS4′s Shaun Boyd had a story detailing the true intentions of the national environmentalist groups pushing fracking bans in four northern Colorado towns.
The article contained an admission from local fractivists that national groups seeking a total ban on fracking in Colorado were driving their campaign.
But the fractivists were successful in getting their admissions and national connections stricken from the story by lobbying higher ups at CBS.
Sources say Shaun Boyd is none too pleased with the edits.
The current version of the story lacks a quote from Water Defense, a national environmental group involved in pushing the bans and founded by actor Mark Ruffalo. But the article still lists a tag for Water Defense, making the edit rather glaring.
But Water Defense and a host of other national environmental groups not your neighbors in Broomfield or Fort Collins were the driving forces behind groups like Frack Free Colorado and other local cutouts.
Frack Free Colorado even bragged about their national friends and sponsors two weeks prior to the election. From their press release announcing a concert and rally with B-list celebrities like Darryl Hannah and Mariel Hemingway in Civic Center Park:

Thanks MileHi
Thanks!
So who are the higher ups at CBS to fudged the report?
I do not know.
Publisher, editor ?
Thinking that I migh write an email to CBS.
Ya. He might get fired if he tells someone.
I sent a note to her. I will let you know if I hear anything.
Thanks.
Should be interesting. I don’t expect a response but my email might end up on a nuts and crazies list.
I only watch CBS for the weather and maybe occasionally the news. I have long since given up on the local news and newspapers.
They were stupid proposals that passed, but I don’t think this will amount to anything. There is virtually no drilling in those city limits. In an election year Hickenlooper will not allow the Dems to impose a statewide ban. I think those outside groups wasted their money.
What do you think about his methane proposal ?
Stan Dempsey, president of the Colorado Petroleum Association, was part of a larger group negotiating the air-pollution rule, but his group only found out about Hickenloopers plan Monday morning.
We didnt even know about it, Dempsey said. This came as a surprise.
The CBS4 Weather Anchor Lauren Whitney (first job working for the Arizona Diamondbacks) is ok until she opens her mouth.
Ed Greene is one of the few that does not send me running to change the channel.
I understand why they did it, but I personally think it's ridiculous. It goes way too far, but methane is a target in the age of globull warming hysteria.
