Another stupid media controversy, this one touched off by a characteristically stupid column by the Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen, not known for the density of his gray matter. The Post man, sort of the epitome of what used to be called bleeding-heart liberals, suggested conventional Americans gag when they see an inter-racial couple. He was supposed to be writing about the new mayor of New York and his wife. In fact, he was writing about himself and his ilk. The Washington media went into navel-contemplation exercises for several days following and revealed the startling fact that they have no knowledge,or interest in,what conventional Americans think about inter-racial marriage, or any thing else, which in itself is scarcely more than a dog and man story.
Personally, me, I think people play the race card, which is what this is,when they are at loss for arguments or feel cornered. Playing the race card is rather like the old playground idiom,Aw shuddup. The President, for example, is politically in a weak position: failed or failing neo-Keynesian economic policies that are doing little or nothing to relieve our structural faults; confused or incoherent foreign policies that are endangering our, and our friends, security, with the lesson of Munich, cardinal tenet of American foreign policy for over half a century, cast aside, notably in the case of Irans progress toward achieving the status of terror-sponsoring nuclear-armed rogue-state status; underlying it all, a promotion of whining, entitled, victimist, mood that undercuts the nations morale, softens its psyche, denigrates manly men, massively redistributes income to a federal nomenklatura.
When all this fails and note that it is by no means clear it has failed, or why are these nomenklaturists still in power and their allies in the media still in business? play the race card....

I read Cohen’s article to see what the controversy was all about. It was Cohen’s poorly articulated way of trying to insult conservatives. It’s amusing to see him have to wiggle and moan to escape liberal anger because they didn’t understand his original meaning.
As this "controversy" continues it's had more indepth analysis and it seems that Cohen's penchant for this racial formula-esque reporting shows his own deep seated racism (and applicable to many on the Left).
I “gag” when I hear some liberal racist try to make race an issue. Well, not so much anymore. I just shake my head and sigh. Why don’t the liberals just admit it - they are the racists. They inject race, labels, and tension into situations where it does not belong and did not exist until they brought it there.
Exactly!
Liberals through the looking glass.
People are getting so numb to the race card that it’s lost its impact value and people are seeing right through it. Thats a good thing.
Perhaps in the future the general voter might be more inclined to not vote for a minority and not because their racist, but because of the example and overuse of the accusation during this administration.
It’s like watching 5 minority teens walking towards and eyeing you in the middle of the evening. You’re not racist, but you do feel a pressing concern with your safety.
Going back a long while, interracial couples, usually black men and white women, were seen as sad and sympathetic for the black man, because the assumption was that the white woman was crazy.
That’s the hidden secret, that the primary motivation to many interracial marriages is not love, but anger and the desire to hit back at parents or other family members.
I saw such an example in a 3rd generation Mexican-American family, where the mother was a woman of exceptional beauty and grace, yet her daughter was filled with blind jealousy and hate against her, going so far as to strike out at her mother that she, about age 15, would make a baby with a black man, “the blacker, the better”. Unfortunately for her scheme, the black boys and men she approached saw the bright red warning flags, wanted nothing to do with her, and she was almost 18 when she finally found a sucker.
He did not initially know that she was pregnant, and when he did, to his credit, he offered to marry her. But she at first took the offense with offer, telling him to his face that she “would never marry a (n-word)!”
Eventually she agreed, then turned the baby over to him and abandoned them both. Likely the best outcome for husband and child, leaving him sadder but wiser, and at least one loving parent for the child.
