It’s like an episode of Fawlty Towers.
i haven’t been following the show. This mindset does sound Fawlty though. :^)
There are a few conditions under which police and EMTs can declare death in the field (decapitation being one) all others have to be transported to an ED where death can be determined by a physician. Resuscitative efforts have to continue until pt transported and declared dead in an ED
“If the police screwed up, that is their problem, not the emergency response group.”
I think that that’s the point of the article. The cops are to blame, not the EMT’s.
Let the lawsuits against Mexico City Del Norte begin.
Tell this BS to a Vet who has been in battle and watched someone die.
All bleeding eventually stops. Rules of man don’t change that fact.
Yes I have heard of several deaths/murders that have occurred all while police were right outside. Waiting. Waiting for what? Till all the people who the killers wanted to murder are actually murdered and then the killers themselves commit suicide? What happened to the heroes who busted down doors, created diversions, trying to save innocent folks and go AFTER the bad guys?
Several years ago I called the police in the town we’d just moved to a year prior for a domestic issue. (daughter and son in law lived with us at the time) I waited for the cops on pins and needles for 20 minutes and then walked outside and lo and behold there’s a cop car sitting DOWN THE BLOCK. I walked over to him asking if he had the wrong address or what. He responds “No, just waiting for back-up, it’s procedure. Now in this instance nobody ended up getting hurt or killed, but they didn’t know that, and were apparently willing to take the chance that were it the case, they didn’t feel any urgency to stop it from happening.
Then again, maybe I’m asking too much and looking for heroes where I don’t have the right to expect them.
Don’t take this the wrong way but you assumed the police were there to help. They aren’t.
