6 year old boy Josia Cottos mom and dad had no choice than to let him rest peacefully as their child was fighting a brain tumor that was inoperable for a period of 10 months. His mother said that they knew that they could do nothing about their son as they say he was unresponsive and did not open his eyes. They covered him in a soft blanket in white and blue and held on to the tiny hand one last time before the ambulance took him to a local hospital. She said that they told Josia that he had two choices one to keep fighting with the condition and the other, to keep peace with God.
Though the couple was ready to pay anything to get his life back, they chose to cling on the hopes offered by Stanislaw Burzynski. He is a doctor based in Houston who claimed to cure even the inoperable tumors of pediatric cancer. Though doctors can cure over 83% of pediatric cancer in America, there is no hope for Josias tumor as there was only 5% survival.
Being an internist with no board certification for oncology training formally, Burzynski had said publicly that he could cure more than 200 kids per year who had brainstem tumors. The 70 year old doctor terms his drug as antineoplastons and adds that he has treated over 8000 patients since the year 1977. He said that the synthesized sodium based drugs were derived from blood and urine. The urine was collected from public utility areas like parks, bars and other areas that explains the pungent odor in it. Though not approved by FDA, he began to prescribe the drug for cancer therapy, AIDS and lupus.
While some patients claim that, it cured them of different medical conditions, National Cancer Institute has said that there is no proof that even a single patient has been cured so far by Burzynski and helped them live longer. It also said that the drugs formulated by him have potential risks such as coma, brain inflammation and death among the patients. The FDA report says that the blood sample from Josia prior to his death showed a high sodium level in the blood of 205 miiliomoles pl which is fatal. It is notable that FDA forbade the doctor from using his medicines to children on 30th July, 2012, six weeks after Josias death. - See more at: www.themedguru.com/articles/death-6-year-old-sparks-fda-investigation-doctor-selling-false-hopes-cure-cancer-49683.html
This is supposed to pass as something from a professional writer with professsional editors? That sentence would earn the entire story an F in any self-respecting writing class.
It's obvious that whoever wrote/edited it is either pretty careless or pretty ignorant (and very likely pretty arrogant). Josia Cotto's death is sad but his parents had the God-given right to give the doctor of their choice a try.
When talking about posts such as those here on FR or any other online forum written by regular Joes and Janes, typos and mispelling and grammatical errors pretty much deserve a universal pass because this is a strictly amateur/hobby forum. But when an ostensibly "professional" source is so cavalier as to (wittingly or unwittingly) spit in the face of correct English as much as this Med Guru, it tells me that the source is either woefully ignorant or extremely arrogant, or most likely both. That's not to say that the info he presents is correct or wrong, but it IS to say that readers should understand something about the mindset of where that info is coming from.
That was my thought too. I am no fan of the current version of standard treatments that medicine pushes for cancer patients (maybe because I went through them twice and now have decided not to do that again).
I know some folks who get better with all the regimes offered and others die. I also know some who go a different route and some get better and some die.
Quack or not I tend to come down on the side of the patient. Let them decide what care they want
I like D3 as well

I agree 100%. Chemo on older patients is physically, very stressful and debilitating. If the cancer is caught in the early stages I say try the alternative treatments before going with the chemo.
Why some people absolutely refuse to believe in the alternative treatments is beyond me. There are thousands of testimonials from people who survived cancer and many other illnesses when the MD’s had said we can do nothing for you, it’s too late. If you enjoy living at least try them. “Keep fighting” is my motto.

The FDA is appealing to emotion. Conventional (Socialist) medicine could not cure the kid (5% cure rate quoted). But when the kid is not saved by non-Conventional (Free-Market) medicine (83% cure rate quoted), then the Free-Market approach is blamed. And the blame is made personal against the doctor, which is an Alinsky tactic.
Yep, D’s very good but you won’t absorb it if you’re deficient in magnesium and if you’re not supplementing with a quality absorbable form, you most likely are.
Burzynski Movie: Cancer Is Serious Business (Official 2011 Release)
sometimes it is about the quality of life you are leading not the duration
Exactly and if the chemo treatments are going to debilitate you to such a degree that you end up confined to a bed, I’d opt for the alternative treatments. The most frightening thing to me about chemo is that it kills your immune system.
Obama’s solution would be to “just take a pill.”
The "Med Guru" could also be a victim of "editoritis." I know several people who are not very careful with their writing because they know that it will go to an editor before it is published, and the editor will fix all the errors. However, in this blog, even though there is no editor to fix the mistakes, the writer still seems to have the attitude that his sloppy writing will be repaired. Personally, I take pride in sending pieces to the editors that do *not* need to be corrected before publication, and I try to catch errors before I hit "post" here on FR.
The information presented here is correct. The six year old child died of hypernatremia--an abnormally high concentration of salt in the blood, caused by Quack Burzynski's "antineoplastons." Burzynski has a long history of defrauding patients and their families by claiming that he can cure them when they have no real options and are desperate. The FDA investigation after this case turned up a boatload of damning evidence--for instance, Burzynski did not keep treatment records, and his IRB was filled with cronies who were hardly independent in their reviews of his trial protocols. Furthermore, despite over 20 years of phase II trials, he never published results, and never advanced to phase III trials (which he would have done were this a serious clinical trial, and not a method to defraud patients).
In real clinical trials, patients are reimbursed for their time and expenses. On the contrary, Burzynski charged thousands of dollars to participate in his sham trials.
the worst part for me was the fact that 1) it killed all appetite which contributes to additional weight loss at a time that you need additional proteins and calories and 2) the way it made me feel ( like I was dying and couldn’t stop it)
My daughters doctor told her husband to get her some pot and have her inhale four or five drags 30 minutes before scheduled meals in order to increase her hunger. She said that many foods completely lost their flavor, especially meat. It took her three years to regain most of her taste back.
Fraudulent doctors are the worst kind of murderers, selling false hope to the desperate.
didn’t want to use the marijuana route...I found I could handle chocolate milk shakes so four or five times a day I would drink some home made chocolate shake with extra protein powder in it. That seemed to work for me. The cool really helped
One would think that the most advanced country in the world could do better than it has been doing when it comes to curing cancer.
A recent “Investor’s Business Daily” article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization.
Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:
U.S. -——— 65%
England -——— 46%
Canada -——— 42%
You presume that cancer can be cured. Read the definition given
“Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:”
That is not a cure that is remission. When the cancer returns if it is after five years they say it is a new case not a recurrence of the original.
And look at your stats...the US still does better than most. Cancer is a broad term that encompasses many diseases and pathologies. It should not be lumped into a single catch all phrase
Does his harassment make sense now in light of covid pretreatment and treatment with IVM & HCQ and harassment of these docs?
