Reid can always gut this bill, insert the language the Senate Dims like, and kick it back. Voilà! The bill technically originated in the House. All legal. It’s how Obastardcare got passed while avoiding a Filibuster in the first place.
Hairy Reid is like any other cabinet member. He is there to do His bidding.
But hey, at least we get to vote for our senators. They really represent our interests. /s
Ah... something like "If you like your naive belief I won't run a shiv into you at the first opportune moment, you can KEEP that naive belief!"
Wew, that was close. “Don’t throw me in that briar patch, Harry Reid!”
Mortally ill people whove lost their insurance and their doctors will soon be dying because of Obamacare. Ted Cruz needs to gather a couple of dozen of these poor souls from around the nation, and hold a press conference with them surrounding him, and declare: Mr. President, lets tear down this Obamacare now! Its time to repeal this monstrosity. Too many innocent people are dying already. Lets stop the horror before more are killed by it.
EXCELLENT IDEA!!!
“But hey, at least we get to vote for our senators. They really represent our interests. /s “
I’m lucky, mine does. I have Cruz. Yes indeed!
Obama’s cabinet members are mostly window dressing. The Czars do the bidding and are the evil ones.
CLUSTER ____ ! Add your own word.
CARE!
Harry, Tom Coburn’s (R-OK) already had the last word on you.
And no, we don’t want it voted on.
As Rush said today “Not One Single Republican Fingerprint on It.”
The Rats cooked it. They can Eat it.
Democrat obstructionists in in the Senate...
They did vote for the original, true. They’ll probably go for a defense of “well, I tried to right my wrong,” but it may not be enough to save their hides. Hopefully they’ll soon pay for what they’ve done.
We should not have sent wheat to help out the Soviet Union when it was running out of food. There should not be a Republican bill to help fix obooboocare.Stop trying to help evil. Sheesh
Upton just wanted to get the Dimbulbs in the House on record for Obamacare IMO. Now they can’t lie and say they weren;t for it and everyone (except the DIMS) knows how bad it is!
I don’t have any use for the Upton “fix” but it really makes the democrats look bad.
The aide said there is not any pressure on the Senate Democratic leadership to bring the legislation sponsored by Rep. Fred Upton (R-Mich.) to the floor.
There is a difference between constructive fixes designed to improve the law and bills that would gut it, said the senior Democratic aide. The Upton bill is the latter.
To "gut it," as the aide says would be to take the coercive "chains" of government off the necks of millions of Americans and a free market insurance industry which could operate to their advantage.
Thomas Jefferson warned Americans: "To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers." -Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. ME 15:39
The so-called "progressive" Democrats, and the leader they risk their seats for are, as we speak "rivet(ing) the chains" on the necks of their fellow citizens rather than admit the fraud they and their President have perpetrated.
"Let them eat cake" pales in comparison to the arrogance of Reid, Pelosi, and the Democrats who voted for and now refuse to back away from support of the coercive and oppressive force of Obamacare. Note Jefferson's very last thought here. He declares that when government taxing and debt have reached certain levels, in order for individuals to survive, then their chosen "employment" becomes "hiring ourselves to rivet their (the government's) chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers."
Good. Now there’s no chance of softening the blow, and the DemoRATS look like tone-deaf partisan hacks, which of course they are.
This is indeed what will probably occur. However the Pubbies had little choice. Landrieu was going to send her bill to the House anyway; if they did nothing on their own they would look even more “uncaring” and like they are “siding with the insurance companies”.
By crafting a bill of their own, they will at least have a reason to give when (or I should probably say IF) they reject the Senate version. They will be able to say, “We wanted to extend the grandfather clauses forever; the Senate only wants to extend them for 2 years. Why didn’t they take up OUR bill?”
There isn’t anything that could be done (or not done) at this point. The real “trap” already sprung and trapped the R’s. This occured when they capitulated (again, in a long line of capitulations that got us here) on the “shutdown” and the repeal of O-care attached to it.
What’s going on now is, unfortunately, blatant lies and manipulation by the Democratic Party. Hopefully the Republicans realize this and actually try to explain to the populace why their plan was better. They should realize the momentum is still on their side. If they have any brains.
If they have any guts.
The John Kerry defense.
Dem Sens trusting Obama with their fate. The FOOLS!!!!
