A political group for middle-of-the road Republicans founded by former Bainbridge Township congressman Steve LaTourette is launching an online ad campaign designed to counter the influence of groups that he feels have pushed the party too far right.
"The reason that Harry Reid and the Democrats control the U.S. Senate is thanks to the efforts of the Club for Growth, Freedom Works and the Tea Party," LaTourette said in a Wednesday press release. "The far right's attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be 'imperfect' needs to stop."
The group unveiled an online ad that blames the controversial statements from unsuccessful GOP Senate candidates like Missouri's Todd Akin, Indiana's Richard Mourdock and Delaware's Christine O'Donnell for costing Republicans control of the U.S. Senate. It will target people seeking online information about the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Tea Party.
LaTourette's group, called the Main Street Advocacy Fund, said it's the "opening salvo" in an $8 million effort. The group plans to back moderate GOP candidates for office, like West Virginia Senate hopeful Shelly Moore Capito

But efforts by the GOP-e to purge conservatives from the party is perfectly acceptable.
Putz.
latourette is the spokesperson for the “imperfect”. Good for him...loser. This creep needs ousted...he is obviously imperfect.
The LEFT has become exactly what they have accused the GOP of being and hating - cronies with lots of money using their connections to remove any resistance to their diabolical plans. You can’t really blame the donors; they’re just paying political whores for favors like they always have.

This joker was my congressman before I left Ohio. He just won’t stop causing trouble.
And this forum has a bumper crop of them.
“Harry Reid and the Democrats took control of both the Senate and House before the Tea Party ever existed. It’s thanks to the Tea Party that Republicans took back the House and reduced the number of Democrats in the Senate. “
Merits repetition. The Republicans are mouthing nonsense like the Democrats with no interest in the facts. We have been forced into a third party.

Challenge these clowns to show one bill, just one that has “pushed this country to the far right”.
Sorry, only communist crap passed by the far left tyrants.
Target rich environment during the coming elections. I will donate to any of their primary opponents.
UNIONS, Insurance Co’s, BigPharma, Energy...contributing to RINO’s!! This explains so much.
It almost seems like satire. I wish the middle of the road democrats had tried to stop the communist / fascist from taking over the Democrat party, instead they just migrated to our party and pulled it hard left.
“The far right’s attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be ‘imperfect’ needs to stop.”
Or, perhaps, “The extreme middle’s attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be ‘imperfect’ needs to stop.”
why not call themselves The Beltway Self Preservation of Moderates Society
the BSPMS
RINOs McCain and Romney were also not good at winning.
It’s never to late to send them back to the Democrat side. Just ask Arlen Specter and Charlie Crist.
We call these folks ‘The Republican wing of the Democratic Party’.
Ah yes, I lived in his district when he was first elected, he lived in a little bedroom town called Madison, Ohio, a modest place, the dynamic opposite of the overpriced and high-falootin' Bainbridge Township that he moved to some years later, once his pockets were full.
He came into office in 1994 - the year of the so-called "Republican Revolution" - and he might have been a bit surprised he won that night. IIRC, his original platform was aligned with the then-popular "term limits" movement (that went nowhere). He must have shed that idea once he got a taste of the power and prestige he found in D.C.
I did find it curious when he dropped out of the race last year, commenting he no longer wanted to deal with the "strong partisanship" of D.C. politics. Hmmmm, I thought, he must have got a better deal - lobbyist or something. Lo and behold, here is the poster child for limp-noodle Republican-ship, fighting against the conservative faction of his party.
Of note, two of the more interesting contributors to his PAC (from post #35):
National Education Assn $5,000
Service Employees International Union $5,000
Oh, did I mention? We used to call him La Toilet. Still fits it seems.
