A political group for middle-of-the road Republicans founded by former Bainbridge Township congressman Steve LaTourette is launching an online ad campaign designed to counter the influence of groups that he feels have pushed the party too far right.

"The reason that Harry Reid and the Democrats control the U.S. Senate is thanks to the efforts of the Club for Growth, Freedom Works and the Tea Party," LaTourette said in a Wednesday press release. "The far right's attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be 'imperfect' needs to stop."

The group unveiled an online ad that blames the controversial statements from unsuccessful GOP Senate candidates like Missouri's Todd Akin, Indiana's Richard Mourdock and Delaware's Christine O'Donnell for costing Republicans control of the U.S. Senate. It will target people seeking online information about the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Tea Party.

LaTourette's group, called the Main Street Advocacy Fund, said it's the "opening salvo" in an $8 million effort. The group plans to back moderate GOP candidates for office, like West Virginia Senate hopeful Shelly Moore Capito

The Tea Party is “extreme”, “far right” and “dangerous”.

Everyone in the media says so.

Just how will they know who the "people seeking online information about the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Tea Party" are??? Are they getting fed info from NSA/DNC/RNC??

“The far right’s attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be ‘imperfect’ needs to stop”

Is that why the RINO’s are trying to purge the GOP of imperfect Tea Party types?

the group chose to promote what he called “rational conservatives” in primary battles, who would be “civil statesmen” who understand that while state spending needs to be cut, the government still needs to deliver services to the public.

When will the TEA Party begin a PR campaign to refute all of these mischaracterization - lies - concerning what they’re about?

Google (and other search engine) ad targeting - based on what key words you search for.

What about all the establishment RINOs that failed to win ? Carly Fiorina in CA, Linda McMahon in CT, Connie Mack IV in FL, Linda Lingle in HI, Steve Sauerberg in IL, Scott Brown in MA, Denny Rehberg in MT, Joe Kyrillos in NJ, Heather Wilson in NM, Rick Berg in ND, Tommy Thompson in WI and the countless other weak and desultory nominees put up by the RNC, Steve ?

"The far right's attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be 'imperfect' needs to stop."

Thats the way a representative republic works, Steve-o. You make your case and, if they like what they hear, people vote for you.

Its not the TEA Party's fault if people find themselves more in agreement with THEM than with YOUR KIND.

Apparently the GOPe has a real problem with that.

Its why many of us are telling the GOPe to go p*ss up a rope.

It is not your perfection or lack thereof that bothers me. It is that you vote with the Democrats to limit my freedom, create a statist environment, punish the successful, and reward the moochers off of society all in an effort to remain in power. In every way you are no different than the people I oppose.

I require freedom.

Peace among us is not the highest goal - Freedom is.
