A political group for middle-of-the road Republicans founded by former Bainbridge Township congressman Steve LaTourette is launching an online ad campaign designed to counter the influence of groups that he feels have pushed the party too far right.

"The reason that Harry Reid and the Democrats control the U.S. Senate is thanks to the efforts of the Club for Growth, Freedom Works and the Tea Party," LaTourette said in a Wednesday press release. "The far right's attempts to purge the GOP of people they find to be 'imperfect' needs to stop."

The group unveiled an online ad that blames the controversial statements from unsuccessful GOP Senate candidates like Missouri's Todd Akin, Indiana's Richard Mourdock and Delaware's Christine O'Donnell for costing Republicans control of the U.S. Senate. It will target people seeking online information about the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks and the Tea Party.

LaTourette's group, called the Main Street Advocacy Fund, said it's the "opening salvo" in an $8 million effort. The group plans to back moderate GOP candidates for office, like West Virginia Senate hopeful Shelly Moore Capito

If you in the middle of the road, chances are, you’re going to get run over sooner or later.

Either stand for something with conviction, or just go away.

"The reason that Harry Reid and the Democrats control the U.S. Senate is thanks to the efforts of the Club for Growth, Freedom Works and the Tea Party," LaTourette said in a Wednesday press release."

Harry Reid and the Democrats took control of both the Senate and House before the Tea Party ever existed. It's thanks to the Tea Party that Republicans took back the House and reduced the number of Democrats in the Senate.

Considering that 42% of all Americans identify with the Tea Party, these people, or anyone who blasts the Tea Party, most of all Republicans, are nuts to alienate America’s largest group. The mere size of “Tea Party” which really is a state of mind, has got the establishment crapping their pants.

Hey Tourette, you haven’t been paying attention to your own party’s activism and assaults that they continue to barrage the right and normal people with on a daily basis have you? The right is constanly under seige by the left. We’re just starting to fight back because we’re sick of the mind games, manipulation and outright lying by your party and their kind. Bring it. Thanks for announcing to the world that you’re another one of “those” idiots so we know who to rally against and remove from office.

Harry Reid controls the Senate because of John Cornyn's legacy as Chairman of the NRSC -

Cornyn's handpicked Senate candidates:

Arlen Specter - Democrat
Charlie Crist - Democrat
Lincoln Chafee - Democrat
Lisa Murkowski - Independent

Republican candidates stabbed in the back:

Ken Buck
Sharon Angle
Christine O'Donnell
Joe Miller
Larry Elder
Charlie Summers

Since leaving Congress LaTourette has founded a lobbying firm and created an anti-Tea Party super PAC. It takes no imagination to figure out where his money is coming from.
