Heavenly Father,

We are so blessed to live in America. Even with all its current problems, it is still the greatest nation in the world. We confess that our prosperity belongs to You and that You have always taken care of us. And we confess that You have honored America in the past because as a nation, we have honored Israel and have defended her.

Lord, we pray that You continue to bless those who defend America and those who defend Your beautiful Israel. Today as we honor our veterans, we ask that You protect all that these brave men and women have done over the 237 years that America has existed as a nation. So many lives have been given and so much time, blood, sweat, and tears have gone into protecting this nation and its allies. Father, we ask that You take each of these selfless acts and work them so that not one on them has been offered in vain. Grant each of our patriots of the past and present a wonderful reward for their faithfulness in defending this nation that we love.

Father, You have been so good to us and to our beloved America. We pray that You would continue to stand beside us and guide us with the light of Your love and Your truth. In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

IN THE COLDEST and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting Glory, and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.

FROM THE BRAVE, albeit weary, ill-equipped, and untrained volunteers who straggled into Valley Forge on 19 December 1777 arose, with the help of some gallant friends from across the waves, the cohesive fighting force that became the United States Army, global defender of Freedom and scourge of Tyrants.



AS GENERAL WASHINGTON lifted his prayers on high in that bleak Winter, let our prayers now rise like a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and envelop them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission.
