Cancer patient chooses death after Obamacare causes his premium to increase by 833%
Fellowship of the Minds ^ | Posted on November 9, 2013 by Dr. Eowyn | Dr. Eowyn

Here’s another victim of President Lucifer’s Obamacare.

Bill Elliott has cancer. He had a healthcare plan that had paid for “just about everything” of his cancer treatment, including pharmaceuticals and medical devices like MRI. He had doctors whom he “loved” and his premium was $180 a month.

But Elliott, like hundreds of thousands of Americans, got a cancellation notice from his medical insurance BECAUSE OF OBAMACARE.

So Elliott tried to find a new health plan that would take him. But his insurance premium will be $1,500 a month — an increase of 833% from his old premium. An MRI under the new healthcare plan will cost $3,000 out of pocket.

And so, Elliott has decided he will just pay the $95 Obamacare penalty by NOT getting medical insurance because “I won’t put a burden on my family.” He will “let nature take its course.”

In other words, he is choosing death.

One more thing.

Bill Elliott had voted for the very man whose unAffordable Care Act is consigning him to an early death. Elliott has discovered, too late, that he’s one of President Lucifer’s useful idiots.

An interesting comment by Jean on Patriot Action Network:

Obama said this in an interview in 2004: “One of the qualities I think I do bring to this race is as an African-American, my entire politics is based on a desire to fight for people who are disadvantaged. And that is not just a cause of this campaign. It’s been the cause of my life.”

Read the whole article, it shows where he is going with every policy he implements.http://www.windycitymediagroup.com/gay/lesbian/news/ARTICLE.php?AID…

And Obama does not mean a middle class American who has cancer as one of the disadvantaged people he is fighting for. Read closely and his goal was and is single payer and collectivism. He believes it is your place in life to give it up for the poor. Did any of you really believe he was going to hit only the uber rich? To a person on welfare, you the middle class are too rich and need to share the wealth and be brought down. And Obama is accomplishing this by making you pay more and more for insurance until you beg for the government to take over and lower the costs.

Here in Florida the press is celebrating an African American woman with breast cancer who was paying COBRA $500 a month and now only has to pay $30 a month. She isn’t working if she has COBRA and is rewarded with practically free health insurance while the rest of us including Bill work to pay for insurance or die because we care more about our family’s finances than our own lives.

-— My gosh, that’s fantastic! The older you signed on, the more it would cost. The person could decide what they wanted covered. If you dropped it and had to start over the risk just might make the individual decide they’re uninsurable. -—

Yes, and the policies would presumably be very reasonable, since the young would have an incentive to enroll.

The only people left out would be those with pre-existing conditions from childhood. They could be placed in high-risk pools that could be subsidized by taxpayers or charity.

“Having been the recipient of about $3/4M of treatment that kept my little girl alive, I am grateful.”

And having paid my premiums throughout the years without filing a claim, I am grateful to know it went to good use. It’s what risk pool is all about, and why insurance companies are not evil.

between the govt and insurance (even before Obamacare), things cost a LOT more than THEY should have.

That's because of "free healthcare" and cost-shifting. The practice should be banned.

If those policies are cancelled, it seems that they should get the money back, since buying those policies involved the trust that the insurance company would be there when you needed it.

No, it's a pay as you go proposition. The companies would probably be just fine if the RATs hadn't made it impossible to continue operations.

The carriers pay out 70-80% of their premiums as claims. They pay half of the remainder as taxes. Your suggestion would just cut their throats.

They could be placed in high-risk pools that could be subsidized by taxpayers or charity.

The worst way to subsidize them is by government, who can then kill it. The best way is by a few cents per month per insured, across the entire spectrum...assessed by the private sector.

The idea that this stuff is free or nearly free is absolutely wrong. I’m not saying he should have his policy canceled or that he deserves to die, I’m just saying that somehow he was receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars of treatment for very little money.

In theory, catastrophic health insurance distributes income from the premiums into payouts to those who need it. That's the deal we expect.

I’ve mentioned this before - my medicare drug supplement costs less than the monthly prescriptions I have been getting every month for twenty years. Who is paying for the rest of that cost?\

In theory, you paid your premiums during your working life. SS then takes the money it should have invested on your behalf and pays you an annuity for your care upon retirement. that's the deal you were promised.

In practice, government is instituting Marxism taking from those who produce and giving to those who don't.

Prior to Obamacare, your premiums were determined by actuaries who took the whole pool of policyholders, calculated the predicted costs to pay out claims for the whole group, and basically divided that cost (plus extra for profit and admin costs) amongst the pool. Profits are invested to further increase the ability to pay and ensure that their formulas don't break due to unforseen extra costs.

There are likely just as many in your group who are paying more than the cost of their drugs, but do so "just in case". That was how insurance worked. Now, after Obamacare, there is no more calculating....just a decree....cover it, d@mn it, but only charge a select few for the cost of the whole group.

Anyone who thought this had the remotest thought of this working is a complete and utter moron.

“I see not just amputations on the wrong limb....but on the wrong patient. “

In the apple business, we had “one cut pruning”.

Just amputate the head. Go to the source of the problem; get rid of the brain that disagrees.

Soviet Union sent dissidents to asylums to get their minds right. We can shortcut that.

The thing is, if the insurance company can cut out from policies, it becomes a Ponzi scheme.

A Rand Paul supporter suggested a good solution earlier this AM...Rand Paul's plan is that health insurance should be like life insurance. When you buy the policy, it's based on your age. As long as you pay your premium, you have that plan until you're on Medicare, same premium.

...it needs to be noted that the GOPe is complicit in this. VERY complicit. Dirty as hell IMO.
...

I want this noted and remembered by all of those who tell us to vote for the lessor of two evils next year. Well, I’m not voting for McConnell. Period.
...

The GOPe has publicly stated their goal in 2014 is to destroy the TEA Party movement and conservatism. In their minds, that is the first priority, fighting Dems a distant second.

Not only is fighting dems waayyy down on the list of what the GOP is interested in doing, their desire is to help get a dem prez elected rather than a conservative because they are NOT conservative.

McCain gave the election to Obama over a month before the election when he was running...by saying Obama is a good person and would be a good president.

Rommney in his own way did the same when he ran.

This was illustrated quite well when after Palin brought McCain MILLIONS of more supporters and votes, he siced his team of attack dogs on her and everything about her.

And then when Romney ran he inherited all of MrCain's anti Conservative staff and they continued the attacks on Plain.

They (McCain and Romney along with the GOPe) both/all wanted to go down in history as being major players in getting the first black President elected.

I will never vote for the lessor of two evils again.

I voted for Palin but she was cut off at the knees in order for her not to gain political power (which she ironically now has much more than any Republican) and also so Obama could get elected intead of McCain/Palin.

(Note to ROCKLOBSTER: That maybe not what was said, but it is true never the less ie The GOP is the real enemy.

GOP super PACs gear up to fight tea party

Politico ^ | 11/8/13 | BYRON TAU and ANNA PALMER

Republican operatives want to help establishment candidates fend off tea party challenges with a new weapon: unlimited cash.

Consultants and attorneys — including the co-founder of the pro-Mitt Romney super PAC — are laying the groundwork or have already filed paperwork for dozens of super PACs organized to support individual candidates running next year.

-spies-

Single-candidate super PACs also is a sign party leaders believe donors are unhappy with the results of big money groups in recent years — and are willing to take their checkbooks elsewhere.

Rove’s Crossroads groups budgeted more than $300 million on a plan to defeat President Barack Obama and flip the Senate to the GOP in 2012 — and failed. The perceived stumbles of Crossroads in 2012 led immediately to recriminations within the conservative movement about Rove’s dominance of the outside money apparatus.

You pay a premium betting that you are going to need it at some point (though you hope you won’t). The insurance company charges a premium betting that you won’t need the money and sets the amount based on all the people who already have needed it.

You are right, we are indeed paying for everyone else’s misfortune, including Mr. Elliott’s. But he didn’t enter into the agreement with the assumption that he’d be taking the money out in a catastrophic way and the insurance company has, in the past, selected people who are least likely to need to in order to keep premiums down.

The whole delicate, though dysfunctional balance has been blown away by the mandate that pre-exsisting conditions be ignored. It is no longer insurance, it is now a giant collective prepayment and redistribution plan that no one can afford.

The real problem is health care costs. Market forces can naturally correct the problem, but have been inactive in that portion of our economy for decades. The supply and the demand have long since ceased to touch each other because the insurance company has been in the way taking advantage of both sides.

Reform should start by reintroducing free market forces into the system, not by turning the government in to a giant single payer HMO with unlimited power.

Obama”care” was never intended to be “care”. It is control over our health and, then, insidiously over every other part of our lives. Washington Leftists knew it from the start and hopefully citizens are finally starting to figure it out, though it is a little late.

I’m thinking for those who receive a death decree from the death panels, they may decide to take a death panel member or responsible politician to the grave with them. What have they got to lose at that point?

Why not file a gigantic lawsuit against this phony president and his entire retinue of sycophants (including the idiot chief justice of the Soopremes) on a racketeering charge.

He should be dragged into the dock along with other fellow nut-case felons like the -itch (B or W fits) from the Bay Area. They all belong in orange jump suits since we’d never get them executed for high treason.

“Someone else was paying for the rest he wasn’t getting that kind for coverage just for 180 dollars a month.”

Right, that’s what insurance is all about. Those in good health pay for those with issues. Insurance companies bank on having more fit customers than not. It’s actuarial statistical science. It’s worked well for decades and provided us all with the best, most effective, cutting edge, advanced, reasonably affordable, health care system in the world.

So let’s just trash it and rape everyone. That’s fair right?
This isn’t about “healthcare”, it’s about the biggest veiled tax hike, population control and redistribution scam in world history.

comment not directed at you personally, just a rhetorical observation. I’ve noticed thin skins around here lately.

Okay. I went back to check and it’s ‘Wildstreak’.

I suppose you can’t publish your true name. Wildstreak sounds so, so wild!
