Tom Cruise: My work as an actor is as hard as fighting in Afghanistan
Fox News ^ | November 8, 2013

Tom Cruise has never been shy about expressing his beliefs, and in a recent deposition, the actor said he believed acting was as hard as fighting a war.

Cruise sat with lawyers to be deposed for his case against Bauer Publishing for stories two of its publications printed following his divorce from Katie Holmes, articles that stated he had "abandoned" his daughter Suri.

During the deposition, a lawyer questioned Cruise about remarks his camp had made equating his work and inability to see daughter Suri to fighting in Afghanistan.

"That's what it feels like. And certainly on this last movie, it was brutal. It was brutal," Cruise said

So, Tom, does that shoe leather taste as bad as what you normally put in your mouth?

Real soldiers get shot at with real bullets. Pretty-faced phoney teenage heartthrobs pretend to be soldiers.

I simply cannot believe he said it.

As weird, out of touch, off base, and delusional as I often think some of the liberals in Hollywood are, I still find myself surprised that he actually said it.

He said it. Unbelievable.

whose friend works in Hollywood and who worked closely with Tom Cruise all day almost everyday for about a year. Cruise brought his BOYFRIEND on set every day ALL DAY.

This BF was absolutely full of technical advice about how they should shoot Tom, what he should wear, how he should look. She said the pair had no sense of professional restraint at all. She said he said this sowed a very very high level of discord.

This shocked me to the core as I had never previously gave any credence to the periodic gay rumours about Tom Cruise.

Was talking to my liberal cousin on the phone, one day, about 10 years ago about how Tom Cruise is thought, among certain circles (hubby and friends), to be a wuss, regarding a movie we wanted to se, or whatever.

She said, hubby is probably jealous. (Of Cruise!).

I said, ‘Hub is a highly decorated combat fighter pilot, and Tom Cruise is... an actor’.

No.

“How insulated does one have to be to say something that outrageous?

Well, he is a Scientologist, so he is pretty insulated and nuts.

Name another job where you can get to do your task over and over and over again until you get it right, and get paid millions to boot.

Anyone and I mean ANYONE can be turned into a major motion picture star by the Holltwood publicity machine. All they need do is hype the performer as the greatest natural performer since ___________(insert name).

In short order the low information maroons whose empty lives are lived vicariously through movies and celebrity magazines.

Val Kilmer was a lot more humble, and he made me laugh so hard at this, I fell out of the chair

He’s an IDIOT. He’s never had REAL bullets shot at him 24/7 so how in the wide, wide world of phony, baloney flying turd balls can he make such an asinine statement. Oh, that’s right. He’s an actor and used to lying while looking for sympathy. Sorry, I chimed in.

Yea, right. Sometimes you have to work 3 or 4 hours a day to get 5 minutes of filming! And then you only get paid $20 million. Brutal.

Reminds me of the SNL skit where Garth Brooks was sitting around the campfire with some real cowboys.

I’d like to drop Tom off with a Marine unit in Afghanistan, let him stay for a few weeks, and if he survives ask him if he has anything to compare it to. These people actually believe they’re doing something that helps mankind.

In picture he’s not playing an Air Force pilot - he’s portraying a Naval Aviator. They’re like pilots, only smarter and more skilled...

Sitting here chuckling.

Well....It takes a true top gun to land a jet on a bouncing air craft carrier. I have a lot of respect for those on the deck as well.
