The Virginia election returns confirm what political insiders have known for many decades that the real gap in our politics is not between men and women, but between married men and married women on the one hand and single men and single women on the other. It doesnt matter if you are divorced, separated, widowed or never married. If you are single you are much more likely to vote Democratic.
This insight raises the question of motivation.
It goes without saying that single people are, or should be, more socially active than are their married counterparts. So, social issues like abortion and birth control are likely to be more important to them,
But there are two other possible motivations for this marriage gap which bear examination: economic and cultural.

Thus the myriad ways that the Dems endeavor to destroy marriage. Obama care marriage penalty should do the trick.
That Julia thing is working for them like a charm.
Economically, can there be any doubt that married people are richer than single people are? The American people responded to the relatively stagnant wages of the 70s, 80s, and 90s by the increasing participation of married women in the workforce. The resulting second paycheck masked the impact of stagnant wages and increase buying power significantly.
A one-paycheck household is far more likely to be an impoverished one. They are more likely to depend on the government for food stamps, subsidized housing, welfare, disability benefits, transportation subsidies, WIC benefits, Medicaid, and the Earned Income Tax Credit. They are more likely to need Uncle Sam to survive and more prone to support Democrats as a result
So why do the dems promote single families and reject traditional families that are the foundation of America?
Here we go:.
The worse the economy performs, the more dependent they become on government support and on the political largesse of the Democratic Party. The fewer pay envelopes out there, the more the entitlement check mailings make the big difference.
Next Morris hits dead center on the 2nd point:
But it is also the cultural gap that we need to explore. The only form of marriage the Democrats celebrate is gay marriage. They do nothing, in government or outside, to encourage marriage.
Governmentally, they penalize marriage. Nothing better illustrates this than ObamaCare itself. Individuals are eligible for health care subsidies if they earn up to $46,000. Two single people living together are eligible for a combined subsidy on their joint policy as long as their combined income is under $92,000 ($46,000 x 2). But if they marry, they will lose their subsidy if their combined income is over $62,000.
Even though it is politically, economically, socially, and culturally better for the US to endorse marriage; liberals oppose it at every turn.
The more single people, the more Democrats, unless the GOP changes the math.
It appeals to the most basic wiring of the female human - the desire to be autonomous and the desire to be taken care of.
The autonomy is a lie, of course, as is the promise to be taken care of.
But what would you expect of disciples of The Lie.
I sort of miss seeing Dick Morris on Fox. Yes, he has a poor prediction record, but he’s so enthusiastic, and clearly enjoys sharing his thoughts with us.
Yes, DM was pretty good.
If only fnc would nix shepard smith and whoraldo.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. The gender gap is real because even married women now believe that their security and that of their children depends, not on their husband, but on the state.
Women are biologically programmed to seek security. Men have, in general, not been totally reliable in the last few decades - once upon a time, they may have been cheating, but they didn’t dump you and the kids and head off for the beach with their 20-something paramour. They may have been at the beach with the paramour, but they kept supporting the family.
If you look at married women, especially upper middle class women, you’d find that they are as statist in their voting as the single Sarah Fluke demographic.
The collapse of traditional morality and traditional support systems (such as churches) is responsible for this. The state now holds itself out as the savior and provider of security, and women believe it.
The marriage gap accounts for the income gap, but not for the voting gap.
Statism is making inroads in men, too. It’s merely lagging from where it is in women. I don’t know how this trend can be broken.
Single women want to be unbeholden to anyone and have their needs met for free and without complaint off the labor of others.

Add homosexual “marriage” supporting Megyn Kelly to the list.
