In a speech to be delivered at the National Consumer Law Center's three-day Consumer Rights Litigation Conference starting today in Washington, U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., talks about a myriad of issues including the battle to enact federal gun control legislation and the successes of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Warren, who took office a year ago in a pricey Senate race against Republican Scott Brown, reiterates her position in the speech that the system is rigged for corporations and big business. But she ads that with common sense solutions, government can be part of the solution rather than another problem.

Warren goes on to discuss her objections to credit card terms and disclosures which are written in legalese and potentially causing issues for average people juggling a family, kids and a job. Some members of Congress have been fighting an uphill battle for clearer disclosures against objections from lobbyists for the credit industry.
Warren likened that fight to the battle in Congress to enact new gun controls, which has been a relatively fruitless fight since the fatal shooting of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., last December.
"In 2012, the CDC, which conducts research on how other forms of violence affect public health, spent $100,000 out of its $5.6 billion budget on firearm injury prevention. Just for comparison, the NIH spent $21 million studying headaches. Think about that," Warren says in the speech. "If thats not bad enough, heres another one: When cities and local governments collect data about guns used during crimes, the ATF is banned from using an electronic database to manage the data. Keeping the public in the dark is dangerous and it makes it that much harder to keep our children safe."

The what?
“system is rigged for powerful interests”
That’s right. It is “rigged” by the Constitution for “we the people” to be that powerful interest.
These politicians think we're really stupid.
Here we go again..
Another gun grabbing attempt...
Like the powerful interests that elected Terry McAuliffe in Virginia?
Senator Warren? Hellloooooo....
They can just look at the list of her big-money donors and see the ‘powerful interests’ it’s rigged for!
But being fellow “big money” hypocrites, the media will eat this up LOL!
If she doesn't beat Hillary Clinton outright for the nomination she'll be top candidate for Veep.
Never trust politicians who do not trust you with a gun.
bttt
Sounds like a bunch of greedy lawyers gathering like vultures to discuss new ways to line their pockets whiling assisting the expansion of government intrusion into ordinary Americans’ lives.
The NCLCCRLC or Marxism for short.
“the system is rigged for corporations and big business”
Of course. Anyone who hasn’t spent most of their life in a cave knows that. But she’s still wrong about gun control.
Heap big buffalo chips!
Pokee-Haunt-Us speaks!
Apparently “we the people” are powerful interests and the poor, downtrodden government must be allowed to take away our guns.
From my cold, dead hands!
It’s the evil powerful interests like you who are keeping the poor, sad, pitiful government down! Why do oppress the government like that?

Just part of the Democrat play book. When they are in trouble, they try to put conservatives on defense by dragging out gun control.
President Warren will fight those powerful interests!
That has been my motto for at least a quarter-century.
