Bobby Jindal and his political team totally blew it, harrumphed one advisor for Ken Cuccinelli the morning after a closer-than-expected loss.
Cuccinelli, who narrowly lost last nights gubernatorial election to Terry McAuliffe, was badly outspent in the days and weeks leading up to the election. The New York Times Jonathan Martin described Cuccinellis plight as having been close to abandoned at the end. He was. As Politicos James Hohmann reported, The Republican National Committee spent about $3 million on Virginia this year, compared to $9 million in the 2009. And as the Roanoke Times noted, in 2009, the Chamber of Commerce spent $973,000 on Bob McDonnell, but [t]his year, the chamber gave Cuccinelli nothing.
But it was the Republican Governors Association (RGA) and chairman Bobby Jindal who drew the most ire from a Cuccinelli advisor I spoke to on Wednesday morning this, despite the fact that the RGA spent millions on the race.
Bobby Jindals presidential campaign is over, said the Cuccinelli advisor. He screwed this up so bad. And I dont know why. The campaign knew it was moving numbers over ObamaCare. And the RGA was not very far from that information, they could have obtained it themselves, the advisor continued. They should have given the money to the campaign to spend as opposed to running these stupid China ads. They just blew it.

I agree. Its hard not to notice that Christie is all about himself. He should’ve been walking on the beach with Romney not Obama. He should’ve been out there campaigning for Lonegan not trying to maintain a bromance with Booker from afar. I can’t think of one GOP candidate that Christie has helped and stuck his neck out for. Romney to his credit did that over and over again even for Tea Party candidates. Christie is going to find himself very lonely if he doesn’t start looking beyond himself and what’s good for him politically. His behavior to this point makes it impossible for me to even consider him. I can not support a candidate that is acting as a party of one.
“But........but..........he can win.”
Hey give the guy a break. He could consumed alot of hamburgers on the campaign trail.
Tea Party Conservatives cannot depend on the Republican Party. Period.
Why would he care. The Republicans have just joined forces with the Democrats FULLY and declared war against anyone who will not pass socialist, communist, fascist and amnesty legislation.
Sure. Blame us. Blame the people who never saw ONE mailout or heard or saw ONE ad. I heard last minute ads for E.W. Jackson and Mark Obenshain, but NEVER heard a Cuccinelli ad during the entire campaign. . . .
When most people keep hearing that Ken was EVIL INCARNATE (Literally McAuliffe and allied mailing claimed he’d outlaw all birth control, and jail women who miscarry. . . ), and zero pushback from the Cuccinelli campaign. . .
Christie is all personality- if he were a food item he’d be a jumbo package of Sugar Babies, much like the Kenyan.
We don’t need a third party.
WE NEED A SECOND PARTY!
Socialist northern Virginia gets the most blame.
I think there are a lot of conservatives who have assumed that Cuccinelli has what it takes to be a big time pol. It's quite possible that he has spent his entire career riding the political coattails of someone further up the food chain. And when he ran out of coattails to hold on to, he crashed. Just because someone shares our views doesn't mean he has political talent or charisma.
They are telling it like it is and it is the old RNC that needs to become extinct.
He's blasting away at Republicans who were no help and won't be in the future.
If he ever wins office it will be in spite of these people.
If the RNC and the RGA are pulling money on conservative candidates in winnable elections then it is certainly important to "air" the problem.
“Cuccinelli went through trial by election, and was found wanting. Superior politicians anticipate everything, look for ways to respond effectively within their resource constraints and find a way to win. “
Are you Jindal or Preibus ?
You are unbelievable with your rationalizations.
Both the RNC and apparently the RGA underfunded the Cuch campaign. Please stop with the excuses.
So he should have run as a Clinton?
You could be a spokesperson for Tokyo Rove for all we know.
We can go back and forth about who's making the excuses all the day long. At the end of the day, it's Cuccinelli who's returning to the private sector. McAuliffe probably got a blank check from the DGA because he is a longstanding Democratic party bigwig and had lots of favors to call in. Cuccinelli is personally a good guy and I agree with his entire political platform. But he's no Terry McAuliffe - it was always going to be tough for Cuccinelli because of McAuliffe's experience, resources and political savvy. Sleazeball he might be, but a politically-skilled sleazeball.
That was and will be the only way for a conservative to prevail over the RINOs.
