Obama was looking forward to spending the night at his house in Kenwood, on the city’s South Side—the redbrick Georgian Revival pile that he and Michelle and their daughters left behind when they took up residence in the White House. The entry in the Polk for Honolulu for ANN S OABAMA wasn’t the Dunham daughter. The Dunhams shared the house with Stanley Armour’s employer, the Pratt family are also listed in the Polk at that address and the Pratt daughter told Maraniss she doesn’t remember a daughter of the Dunhams living there either pregnant or with a baby.
ANN S OBAMA wasn’t Stanley Ann.
That’s why the obots insist on referring to her as Ann. From that moment on, this ridiculous article collapses into Alice Through the Lookingglass territory.

Obama returned to Hawaii in 1971 as an unaccompanied minor with foreign nationality. Unaccompanied minors with foreign nationality do not clear customs as a matter of policy to combat trafficking in persons. Because he was a foreign national, Obama was placed in the federal foster care system. In the early seventies, Catholic Social Services of Connecticut was one of two federal contractors used by the HHS to take unaccompanied minors with foreign nationality into custody. Obama remained in the custody of Catholic Social Services of Connecticut from 1971 to his age of majority, 1979. Although Obama was in the legal custody of Catholic Social Services of Connecticut, he was in the physical custody of his foster parent and grandmother, Madelyn Payne of Honolulu, HI throughout this time.
That the Dunhams became his foster-parents doesn't make Stanley Ann his mother. Although Stanley Ann and Lolo Soetoro returned to Hawaii and filed a joint tax return for 1973, THEY DID NOT claim zero as a dependant child.

Don't know for sure. It would be hard to imagine two different women with such similar names and surname "Obama" anywhere in the United States c. 1960. I don't know this for a fact, because the 1960 Census will not be released for another 20 years, but I'd surmise that the number of individuals with surname "Obama" in the entire United States at that time could be counted on your fingers. With so few people in the universe of Obamas in the US back then, probability is greater that "Stanley Ann" and "Ann S" are one and the same.
It wouldn't be that unusual for Stanley Ann, or someone else, to report her name to the Polk Directory as "Ann S. Obama." Reversing first and middle names in directories is not uncommon, either intentionally or unintentionally.
BTW, isn't there a listing for "Ann Obama" in the SEATTLE Polk Directory c. 1961, at the same time Stanley Ann was attending the University of Washington, as shown on a copy of a transcript?

Seems like you might be confused. The story in the Halperin-Heilemann book takes place in the Obamas' house in Chicago, NOT Hawaii. He was going through materials supposedly left to him by his (purported) mother when she died.
