Don't know for sure. It would be hard to imagine two different women with such similar names and surname "Obama" anywhere in the United States c. 1960. I don't know this for a fact, because the 1960 Census will not be released for another 20 years, but I'd surmise that the number of individuals with surname "Obama" in the entire United States at that time could be counted on your fingers. With so few people in the universe of Obamas in the US back then, probability is greater that "Stanley Ann" and "Ann S" are one and the same.
It wouldn't be that unusual for Stanley Ann, or someone else, to report her name to the Polk Directory as "Ann S. Obama." Reversing first and middle names in directories is not uncommon, either intentionally or unintentionally.
BTW, isn't there a listing for "Ann Obama" in the SEATTLE Polk Directory c. 1961, at the same time Stanley Ann was attending the University of Washington, as shown on a copy of a transcript?
That always indicated to me what idiots her parents were- who names their daughter “Stanley”?

It’s a mistake imo to assume that the name OBAMA is exclusively KENYAN.
It has to be complicated, or every drover and his dog would be able to work it out. Ann S Obama could have been a student renting a room at the birth announcement address, a four bedroom house the Dunhams shared with the Pratt couple and their daughter; and Anna Obama, who gave birth in Hawaii in January, was the woman for whom Mary babysat. And Stanley Ann wasn’t even in Hawaii, which might explain why no one (other than Abercrombie) ever saw her...and he calls her Ann.

The Babysitters Story:
Mary Toutonghi who now lives in Soldatna Alaska, (2) recalls Barack as ³a really alert baby, very happy and a good size². She does not remember him ever crying (although she adds she is sure he likely did but does not remember any undue fussing). She recalls as best she can the dates she baby sat Barack as her daughter was 18 months old and was born in July of 1959 and that would have placed the months of baby sitting Barack in January and February of 1962.
