President Obama swiped at Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) on his home turf Wednesday night, telling supporters at a pair of fundraisers in Dallas that Republicans had pursued a radical and destructive position during last months government shutdown.
The president warned good and decent Republicans were being overrun by radical elements within their party.
Right now theres a group that and a few of them are from Texas who just arent willing to do the hard work and compromise necessary to move the country forward, the president said.
The president added that he was interested in getting the GOP functioning again following the shutdown.
I have to say that I am a proud Democrat and committed to the values that the Democratic Party represents, but Im also interested in getting the Republican Party back in a functioning state, because this country has two parties, we need both of them operating in a way that allows us to move forward, Obama said.
Obama never mentioned Cruz by name, but references to one senator from Texas as he was discussing last months fiscal battles were clear.
Cruz was a pivotal figure in the showdown, rallying Republican lawmakers to resist passing a continuing resolution without securing a promise from Democrats to delay or defund ObamaCare.
The president was in Texas on Wednesday to attend an ObamaCare event with individuals helping to sign consumers up for healthcare coverage, in addition to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee fundraiser.
Earlier Wednesday, Cruz blasted the presidents visit to his home state as bringing nothing with it but broken promises.
He promised that Americans could keep their health care plans. We were told premiums would go down, that jobs would be created. And we now know these are all false promises, Cruz said in a statement.
The Texas lawmaker has defended his role in the shutdown, which ultimately ended without Democrats agreeing to slow the healthcare law.
One of the things we accomplished in the fight over ObamaCare is we elevated the national debate over what a disaster, what a train wreck, how much ObamaCare is hurting millions of Americans across this country, Cruz told an audience in Iowa late last month.
Obamas remarks came at a pair of events benefiting Senate Democrats. The first, at the home of Dallas lawyer Peter Kraus, hosted around 100 people at $15,000 per plate. The second, a high-dollar affair with a $32,400 ticket price, was at the home of attorney Russell Budd.
I wonder how many of us don’t say what we are thinking.
Yet, we think it and know others do as well.
Repubs called for a delay in Obamacare. Obama refused.
Now Dems want a delay.
These Dems:
Mark Pryor, D-Ark.
Mary Landrieu, D-La.
Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.
Mark Begich, D-Alaska
Kay Hagan, D-N.C
are taking that radical and destructive position and are radical elements within their party. Isn’t that right, Obama?
Obama said, “this country has two parties, we need both of them operating in a way that allows us to move forward”. I’m sure you do, you communist subversive. You need everyone to do things your way. Screw off.
Ted Cruz ultimately compromised to the position that Obamacare should be delayed for one full year...until it was ready to roll-out. Obama was not willing to do this, thus the Government shut-down.
Now, after we’ve all see the disastrous roll-out (with more suprises certainly to come), it’s pretty obvious that President Obama was the one reacting radically.
In any case, this is all just more of the Saul Alynski stuff that the Democrats do with great effectiveness: demonize your opponent....don’t engage them.
The fact that Obama is calling Cruz out, must mean that Cruz is having an effect. In the end, the people will either like or dislike Obamacare. It wil have nothing to do with Obama or Cruz for that matter. So, far the position that Cruz holds looks a lot more reasonable that Obama’s.
Reasonable?
REMEMBER THE BARRYCADES!
The North Vietnamese were always pulling this stuff: “We have no quarrel with the American people. It’s your government ...”.
I suppose that means the Demoncrats know the future of their opposition: the productive part of the American people.
Radical was putting up barriers and barring Americans from national parks and monuments that had always been open to the public.
The National Mall has no gates and no keys yet, you bought and rented barriers to make a point, spending monies you suppusedly didn’t have.
Further, yuh nut case, you forced businesses to close that made money, paid employees and paid the government a portion of their revenues.
You idiot. You shut down revenue coming into the government at a time when the issue was not having enough.
I wonder how many employees of these private companies were served with a “Notice to Vacate”?
Do you care? Mr. Nobel Peace man....
You, are a man of the people?
You’re looking out for the little guy?
You’re looking out for women and children?
How many families had to beg for food because of your stunt?
The president warned good and decent Republicans were being overrun by radical elements within their party. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Isn’t the pot calling the kettle black?
Dear Mr Obama:
You can get yourself out of the republic of Texas now. We do not want you here nor your communist government.
FE
A great post. Absolute truth.
God forgive me but I have nothing but hate for this man and I know that as a Christian, I shouldn’t have hate in my heart, but unfortunately - I do.
Hate-uhz gotta hate. /s
I don’t blame you.
That’s wacsist...
Anybody listening to mac daddy talk about anything must know that he is lying.
When he says that he knows nothing about all the scandals within his administrate only shows one of two things:
1) He is the most incompetent POTUS ever.
2) He is unable to tell the truth.
Either way the American people are being f’d b y this most corrupt administration and his mindless sock puppet.
Take a hike back to DC you POS.
.... Say what you want about Obama and the Democrats ..... But I have to hand it to them .... they definitely know how to get out in front of and frame almost every political argument while the Republicans are almost always caught on the defensive end of the stick.
More lies.
Dallas lawyer Peter Kraus, attorney Russell Budd.
Hey Guys, Did this pay for your exemption from ScaryCare-y?
I thot so.
“good and decent Republicans” = those who comply with Dictator’s demands without question.
“radicals” = those who try to actually represent their constituents.
