Democrat Terry McAuliffe won the Virginia governors race on Tuesday, in a surprisingly close victory over Republican rival Ken Cuccinelli -- who was heavily outspent and trailed in the polls for much of the race. With nearly all precincts reporting, McAuliffe was ahead with just 48 percent of the vote, to Cuccinellis 45 percent. Though McAuliffe previously held a double-digit lead, exit polls showed voters opposed to the federal health care law overwhelmingly backed Cuccinelli, helping him narrow the gap on Tuesday.

It is true that McAuliffe spent more. It is not true that Cuccinelli lacked resources. I think his campaign spent more than $19 million——a HUGE amount in a small state like VA. Here in CA Meg Whitman spent $140 million of her own money to end up losing to Gov. Moonbeam. You can only spend so much. Had the RNC thrown in a few million more, I don’t think it would have made the difference. The difference is this particular race was the Libertarian candidate. Third parties help Democrats.
McAuliffe will be perfectly poised to be VP. I checked, the domain name: www.ClintonMcAuliffe.com is already taken.
I know he is a loyal Clinton flunkie....if she is looking for loyal Clintonista in a purple state....he would fit the bill. Also a prodigious fundraiser.
The RNC spent a paltry $3 Million on this race, while showering fat ass in NJ $12-13 Million. In a race he won by 40% so your analysis is wrong! The RNC is coming after Tea Party candidates. The so called libertarian was not a libertarian at all....although I agree that a third party helps dems....I also believe that we have to go after the rinos who feel it necessary to come after us! This isn't the first race they've done this to us.
I disagree. McAuliffe was all over the airwaves blasting Cuccinelli relentlessly without response. With more resources, Cuccinelli could have taken it to McAuliffe.
Not “diverse” enough I think.
More likely DeVal Patrick (Baraq Jr)
or Cory Booker (Baraq III)
If everyone just held their tally until the big conclaves had reported in, there would be time to attack an uneven voter/vote count and etcetera.
If a city shows a hint of irregularity, the remainder can justify holding back their tally until it is settled in a court ... or whatever.
Just say no.
I agree that the RNC wasted money in NJ to help Roly Poly. He was going to win anyways....the Dems put up a sacrificial lamb who didn’t stand a chance.
Losing theme. I got a better more silly one:
The question isn't whether McAuliffe spent more; that's not up for debate. You said you doubted the RNC spent enough money, and I am correcting you based on what I know. Again, the Cuccinelli campaign and numerous other sources state that they were abandoned by the RNC in favor of Christie.
I'm in Virginia. I sat through the endless onslaught of McAuliffe ads. Ken just didn't have the money to compete. So with all due respect, don't tell me that Cuccinelli didn't lack resources. You don't know what you're talking about.
Well VA will rule the day they elected this Klinton butt kisser. What they get they deserve for putting him in office. Stupid is as stupid does.
Looking at it from outside your state, I’d tend to think you’re correct.
One of the real threats of our rampant crony capitalism is that people like the Clinton Crime Family and Chicago Mob have huge amounts of campaign money.
The really sad thing is that it is mostly misappropriated federal spending. How do we ever recover from the trillions of dollars the Democrats have siphoned away?
That is why some Republicans cannot see how damaging a third party is to getting a Republican voted in. And we still have some simple minded Republicans that insist a third party is the answer. How ignorant.
Miss Romney yet?
You’re right-—it’s no different from any other form of organized crime.
That’s not to say Sarvis wasn’t a factor; he clearly was. But the RNC is complicit in this mess, and I will never forgive the traitorous SOBs for helping to foist the sleazebag on my state.
Well I’m in CA. And I’ve seen Republicans like Meg Whitman spend kazillions on the airwaves. It makes no difference when you’re in a solid blue state where the GOP brand is about as popular as hemmeroids. Unfortunately VA is turning solid blue too, ehich explains why McAuliffe always had a built in advantage.
EXACTLY !!!
"BOTH sides spent a fortune on this race."
Though the Dems spent over 10X the amount as the Repubs.
The RNC heirarchy is run by RINO'S - And the Tea Party needs to (IMO - will) take over that too!
Exactly. You're in CA, which is why you don't know the situation in Virginia. And for some odd reason, you seem unable to comprehend the facts when they are explained to you.
So carry on.
