Maine governor candidate Mike Michaud: I’m gay
Portland Press-Herald ^ | 11/4/13 | Steve Mistler

The six-term congressman’s announcement in an op-ed column may influence the 2014 election to lead the state.
Maine political observers offered early reaction Monday to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mike Michaud’s announcement that he’s gay, ending years of speculation and potentially sharply changing the dynamic of the 2014 gubernatorial race.

Michaud, 57, currently serving his sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives, made the disclosure in a column submitted to three of the state’s major news outlets. He said he was making the announcement in response to “the whisper campaigns, insinuations and push polls” that unidentified people have been using to raise questions about his personal life since he declared his candidacy.

“They want people to question whether I am gay,” Michaud said. “Allow me to save them the trouble with a simple, honest answer: ‘Yes I am. But why should it matter?’ ”

As congressman for Maine’s more conservative 2nd Congressional District, Michaud has long sidestepped questions about his sexuality. But on Monday he made it the subject of a column submitted by his campaign, which required strict reporting and publishing embargoes. Now, nearly a year away from the 2014 election, Michaud’s sexual orientation moves to the forefront, potentially dominating what was expected to be a highly competitive three-way race...

If successful in defeating Republican Gov. Paul LePage and independent Eliot Cutler, Michaud could become the first openly gay governor in the country. Former New Jersey Gov. James McGreevey revealed that he was gay in 2004, but the announcement coincided with his resignation and a blossoming public scandal.

Now that Obamacare is pulling them down he’s pulling out the “I’m Gay” card. It works for Blue State Democrats.

“I like to kiss men and hump them in their butts.”

“Gay” doesn’t begin to describe the disgusting sexual acts of these mentally deranged idiots.

He’s the democrat candidate, of course he isn’t conservative, he’s a socialist like all of them.

He used to at least be a pro-life RAT but he’s flip flopped on that.

It is the more conservative, less democrat district of the two but that doesn't make it a conservative district. It hasn't voted GOP for President since 1988. It had a high Perot vote in 1992 and the last Republican to hold it was RINO Olympia Snowe, when she ran for the Senate in 1994 it elected a democrat, 1 of only 4 GOP seats that year to switch from R to D. Curiously the other more liberal seat elected a Republican that year. I hope a halway decent Republican is able to snag the seat next year now that poopy pants Mike is vacating it.

He's certainly less liberal than the rat who represents the first district, who is a total insane moonbat. He used to be pro-life but he's flip flopped on that. There is a third party candidate on the left so he's positioning himself as far left as possible.

impy, here is the script for Maine CD #2 in ‘14:
1. GOP liberals get behind one candidate (Kevin Raye plays that role in ‘14)
2. A strong conservative alternative is his main challenger (Bruce Poliquin appears to be cast in that role)
3. The grassroots right splinters up their vote with a few candidates running well back with anywhere from 5% to 16% of the vote.
4. Therefore, the GOP liberal wins by a decent margin.

There are 2 other candidates in the race so far, filing deadline for major parties in is March.

They are Blaine Richardson, described as a “Tea Party activist”, he lost to Raye 60-40 in the 2 way 2012 primary.

And former State Senator Richard Rosen who was when in office a member of something called the “American Legislative Exchange Council” which sounds like a conservative organization.

I invite 2 of the 3 conservatives to drop out of the race so Raye doesn’t coast to an easy plurality win.

Not to change the subject, but the Dire Straits Song “Money for Nothing” is now being “edited” when it’s played on the Radio.

Either the entire Verse containing the word “faggot” is deleted or the word itself is changed with the Verse still included in the Song.

What strikes me as odd is this, whenever there are calls to change or edit Materials because they are tasteless or Vulgar, (Crucifix in a jar of Urine, feces covered depictions of Jesus as some examples) all we hear are screams of Censorship and we are accused of attacking Artistic Creativity.

This change is obviously endorsed by Dire Straits, yet there is no outcry from Musical Purists or Critics. I remember the outrage when Ted Turner started “colorizing” old Black and White Movies.

Haven’t heard the edit around here (Boston area). I do know you don’t hear Rod Stewart’s “The Killing of Georgie” (about a gay man killed in NYC) on the radio anymore, probably because the subject may be considered a “downer” by gays etc. (though if a song came out about Matthew Sheppard maybe that would get airplay, who knows.)
The Kinks A Well Respected Man gets airplay with no edit because apparently people figure (and it’s true) that “fags” is British slang for a cigarette (much like the reference to a “mac” in Penny Lane is a raincoat, and a “lorry” in You Never Give Me Your Money is a truck—hey, British slang.

Right and I did point out his positions, etc.
One Maine native (living in Bangor at least part of the time) is Stephen King who is definitely a moonbat. I read a book where he and a friend wrote emails back and forth following the Red Sox in ‘04, and he kept glorifying that great candidate John Kerry. Ugh. King owns several Bangor radio stations including one that runs progressive talk (Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz etc.) New England doesn’t have too many prog talk stations—there are a few others in Brattleboro VT and western MA—though then again most libs probably prefer NPR.

Richard Rosen is OUT in Maine CD 2.

Two conservatives remain in race with Raye.

Yes, he lost to Raye one on one in 2012 so he’s obviously weak. Someone should put dog doo in his yard every morning until he drops out.

This needs a new thread but I do not have a link. I received an IM informing me that Mike Michaud is marching with the Veterans for Peace in the Bangor 4th Parade.
