DALLAS (AP) — Former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will serve as the next president of the Boy Scouts of America, taking the helm of a national executive board that remains tangled in controversy over the organization's policies toward gays, BSA announced Wednesday.
Gates' two-year term to the volunteer position begins next May, once he's formally approved by the voting members of the Boy Scouts' National Council. He will succeed current BSA President Wayne Perry.
Gates was an Eagle Scout before he began his decades-long career in public service, which included leading the Central Intelligence Agency and Defense Department. He retired as defense secretary two years ago after serving under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Gates, as the Secretary of Defense, was the key person in Washington responsible for ending “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.
Gates actively and tirelessly promoted the homosexual agenda in the military, while driving out officers who supported traditional values.
Now Gates will head the gay Boys Scouts. How appropriate.
The Boy Scout oath can no longer be taken seriously. Gates is a homosexualist if not queer himself.
Figures. The degenerate scumbag who worked so hard to faggotize the military will now lead the Homo Scouts.
I remember when I took that oath. Now 20 years later it’s meaningless.

As a former scout, you can rest assured that my grandsons’ will not join the scouts.
I was a Cub Scout in a small town back in the 1950’s until the Boy Scouts went on an overnight hike. The Boy Scout leaders were three guys, a cop, the son of the Congregational minister and a fellow who owned a sporting goods shop. Seemingly solid citizens all.
The story that came out after the Boy Scouts returned was too “indelicate” for 8 year-olds but rumors spread. The scout leaders all had a fondness for young boys. All three of the Scout Leaders disappeared and not a boy I knew was in scouting anymore.
There is no logic that supports openly gay scouts or scout leaders. There is either a lack of understanding or a cynical lack of honesty behind any favorable view of this. I have no doubt that there are gay scouts and some well behaved, well-intentioned gay scout leaders currently involved in scouting. Inviting openly gay scouts and scout leaders to join is a recipe for the destruction of scouting which might well be the objective behind this; scouting teaches many strong traditional values
There have always been homosexuals in the scouts, however, because their behavior wasn’t accepted then all the things that led up to their behavior wasn’t accept. Now, their behaviors must be accepted, treated as ‘special’, and no scout can complain that they must bunk with a sexually deviant faggot.

I feel sorry for the young boys TRYING to sell cookies and candy in front of our local store. I don’t see many takers, anymore.
I was going to ask the scout leader if they were selling any packed fudge, but my daughter elbowed me in the ribs.
I was a Cub Scout leader for years. If my boy was that age again, there is no WAY I would let him be in the Man-Boy-Love Scouts today. No. Way.
It’s a good thing the political geniuses George W. Bush and Karl Rove fired the unpopular Rumsfeld and brought in Gates. Or else Republicans would have lost the 2006 House elections.

I just read that the BSA has an official role with the Dept. of Homeland Security to be part of that Domestic military Soetoro so badly wants. Who better than Gates with all of his experience to meld the two missions.
