I can´t quite believe that I´ve just sat through ten minutes of BBC television in which British journalists Owen Jones and Zoe Williams have defended Karl Marx as the prophet of the End of Capitalism. Unbelievable because I had thought Marxism was over with the fall of the Berlin Wall--when we discovered that socialism was one part bloodshed, one part farce. [Snip] Sixty-five million were murdered in China--starved, hounded to suicide, shot as class traitors. Twenty million in the USSR, 2 million in North Korea, 1.7 million in Africa. The nightmare of Cambodia (2 million dead) is especially vivid.

The Left is trying to rehabilitate Karl Marx. Let´s remind them of the millions who died in his name

There is a vitally important distinction between the idealism of the young Marx when he viewed the (very rough style of) capitalism in the UK of the 1840’s, and the tremendous damage communism wound up doing in the world (including perhaps a hundred million corpses). Also, many or most of the bad things Marx observed in 1840 no longer pertain in the world of business in 2013. Things such as child labor laws, worker safety regulations, minimum wage laws, advances in health care, and the right to organize labor unions if desired.... etc. All these things did not exist in Marx’s time. We can criticize them on various ground, yes, but they have contributed to a completely changed workplace. Marx was looking at a very, very different world and a much harsher life, with much harsher working conditions for many. His observations no longer apply very much at all. We need to explain these matters to the youth so that they won’t be suckered into a dangerous pro-communist ideology based on facts from over a century in the past.
The Democrat Party is no longer just a political party, as it has now evolved into a political machine dedicated to its self perpetuation and the creation of unlimited power and control over the American people. The Democrats are now more of a criminal organization that has more in common with the “Mob” than it has with a political party, and when Republicans refuse to stoop to their level, Republicans are left at a distinct disadvantage.
Think about it, if little tiny Israel can have state of the art military then why can't Texas?
As Reagan said, the extreme left-wing read Marx, conservatives understand Marx.
Why is he surprised? The BBC is a leftwing org.
I knew a political science ass. prof who had a ‘Big Brother’-sized poster of Marx up on his wall. This guy was a caricature. Butt-hole lefty, wrong side of history. Everything that was wrong with that generation of spoiled brats.
A couple days ago I checked the entry for Marxism and Communism on Wikipedia.
It’s about 20 screens long and mentions various dictators like Chairman Mao.
NO MENTION of 80 million dead. No mention of anybody dead.
If they omit that tidbit I guess Communism looks good on paper.
Let’s remind the British leftist journalists Owen Jones and Zoe Williams that we’ll hang them from lampposts. Leftist Britons are piss-poor examples of humanity, and they can best serve Britain by hanging from lampposts and allowing swallows to pick their commie eyeballs out.
Castrated Brits need to be reminded that there’s a higher calling than finding the best Homecare 400 boiler plan.

Jones and Williams are a couple of trendy, leftwing journalists whom UK TV loves, as they are the young face of middle class Guardianism politics. Jones especially shows a complete lack of hubris any time I see him, given his age and lack of life experience.
Along with Laurie Penny, they are the baby darlings of the dinner party set, but there are plenty of people, even some on the left, who see right through them.
Sorry, that should have read ‘complete lack of humility and perspective, and an astonishing amount of hubris’.

Yes, the excuse is that Marxism has never “really” been tried. Well, the reason is that it is a flawed philosophy that CANNOT work. It is inevitable that Marxists resort to dictatorship, force and gulags to try to impose “real” Marxism. How many millions have to die before the truth penetrates those leftist skulls?
Technically, the "Dictatorship of the State" is the approved 3rd Phase of Revolution in Communist dicta. It is understood that this phase is necessary in order to effectively "impose real Marxism".
But, somehow, they never seem to reach the 4th (and final) Phase of the Revolution: The Withering Away Of The State.
Perhaps, that's simply because the 3rd Phase has never been pressed to a successful conclusion...
