We're part-way through PMI Day, when reports come out for various countries showing the health of their manufacturing industries.

Sam Ro has been cataloging the numbers here. And so far: things are looking pretty good!

The Asian economies really seem to be cranking, a fact corroborated by a very strong trade report, which is seen as a global bellweather.

China had one of its best reports in months.

And the UK just came out with a very solid October manufacturing number.

You don't say! Well, whaddya know!

The Bluebird of Happiness Has Arrived!

All that Sturm Und Drang, all that doom and gloom, the Imminent Apocalypse , the End is Nigh, all that time and money renting out that underground lair from the Preppers Network (anyone want to buy 10,000 packets of dehydrated chilli paste before E-Bay takes a shot at it?)

Media:Which news is that? Oh, yeah. That was before, yesterday. And yesterday is gone. It's a new day. And now we're trending happy.

Okay, fellow FReepers! All together now!

We are running a MASSIVE trade deficit.

17 trillion now, and growing fast.

Bring back jobs, to America.

Odds of us getting any warning before the press gets shut off?

ZERO.

She also is in contact with her cousin in France, the same is true there.

Most of the EU is not so rosy, from what they are telling me

“I know a peson who lives in Portugal. She says REAL unemployment there is near 25.”

The September 2013 US Department of Labor Statistics show:
155.6 million people in the labor force
144.3 million people employed
11.255 million people unemployed (7.2% of labor force)
90.6 million people of working age but not in the labor force

How many of the 90.6 million should be counted as “unemployed”?

ROFL. Good-bye American bald eagle. Hello, Chicken of Depression.

I always loved Larsen. What a genius. He lucked out cashing in his multi-millions before the advent of the internet. Otherwise, he would've been shortchanged.

Genius indeed. I always bought his desk calenders - 365 days of starting the day with a laugh. Priceless.
