Panic: Desperate Democrats Propose Law to Restore Obama's 'Keep Your Plan' Pledge

The firestorm over President Obama's "you can keep your plan" lie now threatens to singe vulnerable Democrats next year, so they're springing into action to try to force the administration to keep its word. Louisiana's Mary Landrieu -- an ardent Obamacare supporter -- is scrambling to undo one of the obvious consequences of a law she's voted to pass, fund, and retain:

Sen. Mary Landrieu said Wednesday she would propose legislation to ensure all Americans could keep their existing insurance coverage under Obamacare, a fresh sign of the political problems the law’s rollout has created for congressional Democrats. Landrieu, a Democrat who faces a tough reelection in Louisiana in 2014, said she would either offer her own bill or formally sign onto another measure that would ensure that the law would not force anyone off of their existing health policies. “The promise was made, and it should be kept,” Landrieu said in the Capitol Wednesday. “And it was our understanding when we voted for that bill that people when they have insurance could keep with what they had. So I’m going to be working on that fix.”

Obamacare “is settled law,” as we’re always told. Let’s leave it settled and enjoy the fall-out.

NO MORE MODIFICATIONS!!!!

“If individual plans were allowed to escape the ObamaCare dictates, the insurance companies could undersell (possibly even when including the subsidies) the exchange prices, causing the exchange system to collapse...”

It seems like just about any path can kill this thing. Maintain the current one, continued poor enrollment, it should go down. Change the underpinnings of the plan, the thing should go down. It’s intricate, complicated, and, fragile.

Wouldn’t it be something for Dipsh!t to veto a bill enacted for the sole purpose of guaranteeing the very thing he pledged to the people but failed to deliver. I don’t know how you would spin that.

You didn't read the bill. Nobody did. You voted for it anyway, you own it.

Thank goodness we can vote for senators. It would be horrible if senators were responsible to their state legislatures.

Sorry, Mary. You should know that once a fish gets hooked in the gills, its odds of making it drop a lot, no matter how much flopping around they do.

The reason they won’t let you keep your plan is they need to charge you more than you are currently paying to pay for the benefits they’re giving away to create permanent Democrat voters. They know a 60 year old won’t use pregnancy services, abortions, etc. They know the young won’t use most services used by the elderly, but they’re charging you for them anyway.

I’m hoping enough people are so annoyed by this they’ll vote Republican. But we’re likely to have yet another Bob Dole or John McCain.

"I just read about this in the new just like you!"

That's Obama's standard line.

What kind of idiot would ever design a Constitution like that?

93 million stand to lose their insurance by next year.”

Some plans are terminating on 12/31/2013 and pushing people into exchanges or told to get other coverage beginning 1/1/2014.

“The promise was made, and it should be kept,” Landrieu said in the Capitol Wednesday.

This is the same Landrieu who, as a candidate for reelection promised to support Miguel Estrada's nomination to the Supreme Court, but then as reelected Senator Landrieu reneged on that promise, blaming her Honduran constituents for not "understanding her?"

“Too late. The insurance companies have already cancelled these policies and removed them from their systems.”

No. Letters of cancellation were sent out stating that the policies would be cancelled effective Dec. 31, 2013 or Jan 1, 2014. That’s when Obamacare goes into effect. They can’t remove active policies from their systems yet.

Yep, Obama is trying to get this past the mid terms without losing the Senate so he can keep this going through 2016 and by then he hopes there would be total destruction of private sector insurance and so forth.

Could the people be smart enough (the 100 million at least and their connected families) to stop voting Democrat for 40 or so years?
