Looks like Cornyn might get an opponent after all?

Though this is from some lefty publication, it seems there is a facebook page you can go to to "like" this possibility.

That is, if you want a strong, superconservative to run against Cornyn. If you are satisfied with the assistance that Corny gives to Cruz, well, then....that's your business!

One thing the GOP needs to realize: Cornyn cannot (as of now) win a general election. He has alienated Cruz supporters, and there are a lot of them.

That is why Texans need to find a legitimate candidate to both give Cruz some more assistance, and to keep this seat out of the democrat hands.

I’d prefer Louie Gohmert or even Tom DeLay (that give them fits too) but Barton is still better than Cornyn

There was a thread simular to this one. Anyone apposed to the idea of Barton running should read the reasons why he is a good pick on it. Barton has been falsely accused by liberals and so-called "Christian Conservatives (who write on Lib blogs)" alike.

David Barton would be the worst possible Republican candidate. He has a degree in Christian Education from Oral Roberts, not a history degree; yet he is touted as the best Christian historian in America. It has been clearly demonstrated he has falsified his histories - 55 Christian historians have signed a petition against his work! The Democrats would make mincemeat of him and discredit conservationism in the process.

From what I have gathered, Barton is not a liar, but he is guilty of choosing quotes out of context. For instance, Thomas Jefferson was indeed pro-Christian, and actually said at one point “I am a Christian...” but taken together with many of his other writings that Barton doesn’t talk about, it becomes clear that what Jefferson meant was that he admired and followed Jesus’ moral teachings and believed they were good for the nation...but he probably would never think of himself as a born-again believer washed in the blood of the savior.

I am personally ambivalent about Barton as a candidate. I do think there should be a better option than Cornyn for Conservatives here in Texas of all places.

I have read several of his books, including the “infamous” Jefferson book, the supposed “debunking”, and his rebuttal. The left has been reimagining American history for a long time. It was nice to see someone attempt to get it right. If anyone needs “debunking” its what is currently being taught in many schools and universities today - pure garbage.

Before you join in the “crucify him” chorus with the insane and irrational left, I suggest you get the Jefferson book and read it for yourself, or any of his work for that matter.

I find it fascinating how much effort the left has put into trying to destroy some historian in Texas, and even more surprised to see it here on FR.

I have the greatest respect for David Barton. As one post said, we could use a thousand like him.

The left, in their anti-Christ spirit, ignore, oppose, and disregard the blatant and obvious Christianity of the founders of this nation. Barton exposes the truth and they attack him accordingly.

I'm impressed with the obvious references to Christian faith in the Jefferson memorial. For me, that is evidence enough:

PANEL 1: We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness...

PANEL 2: Almighty God hath created the mind free. All attempts to influence it by temporal punishments or burthens...are a departure from the plan of the Holy Author of our religion

PANEL 3:God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that his justice cannot sleep forever.

In Panel 1, the word "Creator" hearkens back to Genesis 1 and God's ultimate authority. In Panel 2, Jefferson clearly identifies with the Christian faith and also emphasizes that it was commonly embraced, using the words "OUR religion". In Panel 3, Jefferson recognized Christian doctrine, calling God "just" and acknowledging that "his justice cannot sleep forever."

The fact that 3 out of 4 panels refer to Christian faith implies that at a minimum Jefferson acknowledged, accepted, and endorsed Christianity.

Dwayne Stovall is a rambling moron, Immigration attorney Linda Vega sounds like an open borders RINO to Cornhole’s left from the limited info I’ve found on her.

But the other 3 sound ok and I’d give one of them the nod over this guy who would have zero chance in a runoff with Cornhole.

However with this crop of unknowns I’m not optimistic that Cornhole can be held below 50%, we need a heavy hitter to have a realistic chance at taking him out.
