Insurance Companies Cancel Lousy Plans People Want To Buy
Political Realities ^ | 10/31/13 | LD Jackson

Obamacare Doctor

I don't understand why I didn't see this before, but it has become clearer than the clouds and rain outside as I write this post. I first thought President Obama actually told a lie when he said Americans could keep their health care insurance plans, if they liked those plans. I thought surely he was fibbing when the insurance companies started sending out cancellation letters to hundreds of thousands, if not millions of customers. I just knew the regulations were written in such a way to nullify the grandfathering clause of Obamacare. I must have been wrong in all those assumptions.

As it turns out, it's not Obama, or his signature health care plan, who is at fault here. It's the insurance companies. According to the President, they were offering insurance plans that didn't offer enough coverage. Democratic Representative Frank Pallone told Megyn Kelly last night that the insurance companies were caught selling lousy plans. He lauded Obamacare for forcing them to change the plans. Which, of course, didn't lead to the cancellation letters that have been sent out.

Get your facts together, I told myself this morning. How ignorant it was of me to blame the 20,000 plus pages of regulations of Obamacare for the Americans who are losing their health care insurance plans. How blind of me to not realize these were lousy plans that were being improved because Obamacare is such a great program. Please forgive me and I'll try to do better the next time.

Thing is, if these plans were so lousy, why are people so upset that they are being canceled? If they didn't provide enough coverage, why were people so happy with them in the first place? Wait, never mind. I've got it figured out again. Of course they were lousy plans that didn't provide enough coverage. We Americans just didn't know any better until the federal government stepped in to correct the problems. Kind of reminds me of the Cash for Clunkers program. We had not idea we needed to destroy all those practical cars and trucks that people were driving until the Obama administration informed us of that fact. I'm surprised we even remembered to breath before the federal government came on the scene.

All hail Obamacare and our federal benefactors.

Telling those people that have been informed their insurance was cancelled because of those bad, greedy insurance companies is like telling a woman who was raped and is now pregnant that it is her fault because she didn’t use birth control.

Pallone is a disgrace to Italians, New Jersey and the office he represents. He is as they say in Italian a ‘cafone’, pardon the spelling and slang.

Only an observation...but we Americans tend to be happy with lousy choices.

We accept a third-rate team like the Bengals.

We don’t have issues with fake wrestling on WWE.

We accept really terrible TV shows because there’s really nothing else to watch.

We would accept the idea of some meth guy being the scripted hero of some TV show.

We would be willing to buy a lousy Pacer, or PT Cruiser....simply because it’s a loser, and we like losers.

We would accept a 3rd rate health insurance plan....mostly because we fake ourselves out on the cheapness of it, and never admit that we had to pay out $7,000 in extra costs for the deductible or the private room we wanted.

We shop at cheap furniture shops and buy Chinese-made stuff that falls apart in six months...accepting it as part of life’s experiences.

We eat over at the Asia buffet place, where they shut down yearly for a bad inspection, and routinely have food poisoning. We do it because it’s cheap.

Yeah, I admit it...I’m cheap....and so are 300 million other Americans. And I’d like to have free health insurance...given to me by the government...who creates it out of thin air.

Where do these canceled people go if they don’t want ObamaCare’s lousy high prices and unnecessary add-ons? America has much smarter businessmen than the university slugs in BO’s administration. There are at least a million Americans now looking for replacement insurance. Some entrepreneur should be able to fill that demand and beat the Big Government’s price. Or is American ingenuity so defunct that there will be no one to use this golden opportunity?

Before ObamaCare you could find high deductable policies for a reasonable price.

The purpose of health insurance is to prevent you getting financially wiped out for a major health issue...not everytime you have a runny nose.

ObamaCare will kill our health

Catastrophic plans are perfectly fine. Their purpose is to keep you from going bankrupt if you have a serious injury or illness. They aren’t meant to cover every bandaid.

If you take a family plan with a high deductible, say 800 per month with a 10,000 deductible and bank that amount of money it would be almost 20,000 per year. You could pay off a small mortgage in 5 years. It would be worth the risk to have a paid off house. Now you don’t have the option.

The problem isn't with American ingenuity, my friend.

"When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - When you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - When you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you - When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - You may know that your society is doomed." -- Ayn Rand, "Atlas Shrugged", 1957
