MSNBC's Roberts: Republicans Want To Stop Women From Voting
Newsbusters.org ^ | October 29, 2013 | Jeffrey Meyer

The liberal claim that Republicans are engaging in a perpetual “war on women” seems to have taken a new turn on MSNBC. No longer does the term “war on women” apply only to access to abortion but now encompasses voting rights as well.

Appearing on MSNBC on October 29, liberal MSNBC host Thomas Roberts claimed that Republicans are trying to restrict a woman’s access to the ballot box. This comes one week after fill-in host Michael Eric Dyson made a similar complaint on The Ed Show. [See video after jump.]

MSNBC's Roberts: Republicans Want To Stop Women From Voting

Speaking with Terry O’Neill, president of the liberal National Organization for Women, Roberts introduced a segment that initially centered around abortion before quickly focusing on new voting laws in Texas. O’Neill began her talking points by claiming that:

The Republican Party in Texas is not only waging war on women's access to reproductive health care, they're even waging war on women's access to the ballot box. They are now enforcing rules that are aimed to stop women from voting.

Roberts seemed happy to take Ms. O’Neill’s bait playing a clip of State Senator Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth), who is running for governor of Texas, complaining that:

I was required to sign an affidavit because the name on my voter registration card is slightly different than the name on my driver's license. My driver's license includes my maiden name. My voter registration card does not.

Roberts continued the narrative asking:

So are women getting the wake-up call that they need about what's taking place for Republicans there trying not just to restrict access to affordable health care, health care that they want, but their vote?

Nowhere in the segment did Roberts or O’Neill explain how Wendy Davis or any woman was prevented from voting, only that the state senator was required to sign an affidavit proving that she was who her voter registration says she was. In fact, according to the Texas Secretary of State website, if there is a confliction regarding your name when you vote, “You may continue to vote during this period. If you do not have your certificate in hand, you may sign an affidavit at the polls and present a form of identification.”

Rather than actually inform viewers of the provisions of the Texas law, Roberts and Ms. O’Neill seemed perfectly content misleading their audience, all the better to poison their viewers, particularly women, against voting Republican.

At MSNBC, the network has moved far beyond reporting the news with a liberal spin. Instead the goal is distorting the news to further a liberal agenda. Roberts should be ashamed of himself for sacrificing journalistic credibility in service of reliably toeing the party line.

[ Sure, there are a number of conservatives who regret giving women the right to vote as they’ve watched women support Marxism for the last 80-90 years. However, I’ve never heard of a Republican saying women shouldn’t vote. This Thomas Roberts fellow is talking straight out of his buttocks. ]

That is because Marxism FEEDS off the emotionalism appeals that is like a drug to well meaning emotional idiots like effeminate men and well meaning but stupid women who think they are actually smart.

I say this as a ice queen woman who is so logical that I would make a Vulcan blush...

“Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.” 1 Corinthians 14:34-35...

...Pauline instruction brings a frown to some of their faces...at least those who recognize it as such...

Far be it from me to say anything negative about the body of people who put Bill Clinton and Barack Obama in office twice.

Yep, I got one ready to go...The papers are drafted up waiting for signatures...

Its right next to the envelop, that is labeled:

“In the event of my untimely death”

(It contains the locations of where the bodies are...)

I was going to say the same thing. Lately, the sexist and racist remarks here have left me wondering if these people are really conservatives. I understand the frustration with the political agendas that some of these groups affiliate themselves with and I agree that we need to fight this. But I always thought that we ought to stay out of the gutter, especially for those of us who call ourselves Christians.

When the jury was selected for George Zimmerman’s trial, there were entire threads dedicated to bashing the women on the jury. As a conservative woman, I was very taken back. Made me feel like an enemy of the very political movement I want to promote and make successful.

It’s no good when we become the very thing the left uses as a stereotype against us. Shameful, really,

Of course individuals are entitled to their opnion. What I object to is the suggestion that one or two sexist whackjobs are somehow representative of this forum as a whole.

That is because Marxism FEEDS off the emotionalism appeals that is like a drug to well meaning emotional idiots like effeminate men and well meaning but stupid women who think they are actually smart.

Yup, there is a certain subset of men (who, unfortunately, have existed throughout history) who are just simpering slaves to the whims of whichever woman is nearest and loudest. We call them "mama's boys" or other such colorful names. They are too weak to fulfill their Biblical call to lead, so they follow like whipped dogs. So, when a bunch of hairy-legged feminists get together and say that the USA is a rape culture, or some other such nonsense, these weak men follow along and lend weight. These men need ass-kickings in the worst way.

Unfortunately, it has also been my experience that intelligence in women is not a reliable predictor of the ability to use logic, nor of the ability to determine correct conclusions from the data. As anyone with eyes or ears and over the age of 10 knows, women tend to be more emotional than men, and I have witnessed the power of this emotional response to override IQ. I wish only the dumb ones would fall for the leftists' propaganda, but alas. The Democrats (through their Hollywood minions) know how to manipulate this emotional aspect, and so manage to get many otherwise intelligent women to believe the most asinine things and support the most ridiculous causes, with those afore-mentioned excuses for men following blindly behind them.

It's a joke, son ...

sar·casm
/ˈsärˌkazəm/
noun
the use of irony to mock or convey contempt.

Even Ann Coulter has stated on many occasions that women shouldn't vote. Kinda doubt that that kept her away from the polls ...

I was at a meeting of a service organization the Thursday after the 2004 election. A woman at a table questioned loudly how it was constitutional for Evangelical Christians being allowed to vote. Here’s the scary part. She is a 90 year old Jewish woman who was a Lawyer. You would think she would remember when Jews were deprived of rights.

Really? I mean I've seen some rants and some statements by Ann Coulter to that effect - but none were serious notions of women literally not voting. It was more to the point that women like government security and control and that conservatvies always win the male vote but liberals always win the female vote.......but I've never seen a serious discussion of this...

We’re supposed to pretend bitter misogyny is funny. That’s one of several aspects of “the right” that contribute to my not really caring how things turn out.

The only thing that matters ultimately is who you are inside.
