“I’m Not Leaving the Republican Party; the Republican Party is Leaving Me”
Townhall ^ | 10/24/2013 | Ann-Marie Murrell

Posted on 10/24/2013 8:56:23 AM PDT by SeekAndFind

After witnessing the recent “anti-Tea Party” publicity circus, led by Super-Quadruplets McCain/Graham/McConnell/King, I’m certainly having trouble keeping both feet in the door. These men have continuously appeared on national TV, not to denigrate the (much deserved) Obama administration, but to instead maliciously stick it to the Tea Party and Sen. Ted Cruz. Personally, I had never heard much about Rep. Peter King (R-NY) until the past few weeks when he became the darling of the mainstream media, aka the Democrat Party. Recently he was interviewed on CNN—enemy territory—calling Sen. Cruz “a fraud” and proclaiming “those I’ve spoken to think he’s crazy”. Of course this type of Tea Party bullying is old hat to folks like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Sen. John “Wacko Bird” McCain (R-AZ), who consistently appear all over TV Land cutting down our own Party leaders instead of calling out the progressive monsters we’re supposed to be fighting against…

Sigh.

This makes me especially sad because, from the beginning of my writing career, I have been very open about the fact that I was once a Democrat. My big “transformation” occurred on 9/11/01 when, like a domino effect, most of my philosophies about government, war and politics came crashing down: “If I was wrong about this, then I was wrong about that…and that…and that…” Of course it’s never easy having to admit you’ve been wrong about so many areas of life—especially when married to a man who has always been on the Right side of that fence (and who loves to use the “I told you so” mantra as often as possible).

Since then, I’ve been speaking to and interviewing various GOP and Tea Party groups all over California and throughout the United States. My message is very strong. Although not always complimentary of the Republican Party, the gist of my message is that if the GOP and the Tea Party could learn to work together, we would become unstoppable in elections. I also encourage groups to step outside of their comfort zones and find new ways to reach people, using strategies taken directly from the Democrat handbook (because we’ve got to admit, they are geniuses when it comes to conveying their message). I always get positive feedback and many California groups have written to me saying they are now implementing some of my ideas into their programs.

However, the past few weeks have once again opened my eyes to the truth. After witnessing these Establishment Republicans repeatedly attacking people on their own side, I will no longer stand up for any of them. The Republican Party, which I fled to, has become more like the Democrat Party from which I escaped.

Because of this, I am vowing to do whatever is in my power to get these people out of office. If I have to personally fly all over America and campaign for every true Conservative who runs against a Democrat-lite Republican, that’s what I’ll do. Unfortunately, the Old Guard has already begun announcing who they deem to become our next 2016 presidential nominee. In 2008, very early on they told us it would be John McCain; they were correct. In 2012, they said early on it would be Mitt Romney; again, correct. Now, these same folks are forcing Gov. Chris “I Love Obama” Christie as our next nominee—and I just can’t go there.

So John McCain, Lindsey Graham, Mitch McConnell, Peter King and others of your ilk—our eyes are on YOU. Even if all of you are not up for reelection, you are the types of Establishment Republicans that true Conservatives can no longer tolerate. You have officially become the role models for those who we will never support again. Instead we will seek out patriots like Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Mike Lee, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Trey Gowdy and others to lead the way.

President Reagan once said, “I never left the Democrat Party; the Democrat Party left me”. With a very heavy heart, I believe that if President Reagan had witnessed the past few weeks (months…years?) of failure and infighting and missteps and missed opportunities, he would be saying the same thing about the Republican Party. This is not the Republican Party I signed up for and this is not the Party I will blindly defend. Bottom line, I’m not leaving the Republican Party; the Republican Party is leaving me.

I will vote for my local Repubs - who are real conservatives.

I will NOT vote for RINO for pres. Period.

Notwithstanding the standard weak-d*cked repub response, there is little diff between being mostly dead and all dead.

Both will lead us to Revolution II.

IT is telling when the GOP is more worried about TEA party members in their own party than the Rats.

I determined the GOP no longer represents my views nor my values. What finally did it for me was seeing the GOP beltway leadership not only standing quietly aside as the media jackals went on its all-out crusade to smear and assassinate the character of Sarah Palin, but even actively joining in with their efforts. That then tied in with all the deliberate efforts right after the 2010 midterms to pour cold water on all the tea-party/grassroots energy and enthusiasm, all in order to pave the way for nominating a Massachusetts liberal... one who helped spawn Obamacare and facilitate homo-marriage. Then just add the insane GOP mania for amnesty!

This indicates a Party that no longer represents me in any way, shape or form. Indeed, it’s quite apparently antagonistic towards my values and views.

Ted Cruz as president just sounds like a good idea. He's intelligent, he loves the US, and he knows history and the traditions that made the US great.

Plus the irony is he brings in the hispanic vote that the RINOs wanted so badly....until they were confronted with a qualified, persuasive, principled conservative hispanic.

I am sitting here ready to join any Conservative movement, I will not send one dime to the RNC and it’s RINO led party.

If a good Conservative republican runs I will send that person my check, not the party. If a Conservative Democrat runs I will send him/her a check.( If there is such a Conservative Democrat he is an anomaly).

But guaranteed the RNC will get nothing from me as long as they are listening to big company donors who donate to both sides, and not listening to the American people.

And F you John McCain wherever you are.

Just ONCE, I’d like to hear these idiots DETAIL exactly WHY they hate the ‘Tea Party’ and Conservatism.

All they have is vague blanket insults and accusations.

I have NEVER heard ONE of these haters, Rino, Democrat, whatever, actually articulate ONE thing about us in detail and why it’s ‘bad’.

It’s all - “Crazy!”...”Ruining the country!”...”extremists!”

I’m not leaving the Republican Party at all. I don’t understand why people thought that we could go after the establishment without them ever fighting back. The only way we can win on our agenda is to take this party away from the establishment like the progressives have done to the Democratic Party. We shouldn’t expect them to just roll over and play dead especially when the moneyed interests are on their side.

the recent “anti-Tea Party” publicity circus, led by Super-Quadruplets McCain/Graham/McConnell/King,

Graham is up for re-election in 2014, and can be beaten in the Republican primary ...

McConnell is is up for re-election in 2014, and can be beaten in the Republican primary ...

Peter King - House Rep - EVERY House member is up for re-election every two years. Can be beaten in the Republican primary ...

... if enough people are still registered as Republicans to actually affect the Republican primaries.

Don't drink the Libertarian kool-aid -- they are working for the Democrats.

The Republican Party left us a long time ago. President Reagan was its last hurrah.

Good point. What part of:
"The government works for the people (not the other way around)"- do they NOT understand?
