Sen. Ted Cruz greeted in Arlington, Texas with 14-minute standing ovation
Twitchy ^ | October 23, 2013

As Twitchy reported last night, Sen. Ted Cruz declared it “great to be back in America” as he returned to Texas and a packed house to welcome him home. Tonight, Cruz attended a similar event in Arlington, Texas, where he promised not to speak for 21 hours, referring of course to his famous filibuster.

Cruz was reportedly greeted in Arlington with a standing ovation that lasted anywhere from 9 to 14 minutes.

Last night’s standing ovation in San Antonio was reported to be only 8 minutes, although there was “Green Eggs and Ham” cake at that event.

I wonder if the far off rumbling thunder can be heard inside the beltway?

The MSM and leftwing nuts are too busy trying to get the 2014 GOP debacle story off the ground. Clearly, this visual would make them look stupid.

What payoff or intimidation tactic could Mitch McConnell give Ted Cruz that would match this?? The members of the senate are in serious trouble. They are going to be exposed and they are not going to like it!

Note to the GODP (Grand Old Democratic Party):

You nominate another RINO and I’ll not vote for president.

I held my nose and voted for RINOmney. (Although a did respect the man as a decent person.)

I held back hurling and voted for that loathsome slimeball McDork. (Although I’d give money to take a bodacious Obama on his grave.)

Enough already. Nominate a real man or just go away and DIE!

The Leftstream Media has always marched to a different drummer.

BTW, if the Leftstream Media is only making left turns when they march, are they not marching in an ever tightening circle?

Personally...I think a lot of the polls are not taking into account people are leaving the GOP, but it ain’t for the democrat party...

How wonderful!

An earlier standing ovation was for 8 minutes, now this rally kept the standing ovation going for 14 minutes.

:) :)

Will the next one go for 20 minutes?

:):)

I heard Chris Mathews went off on Ted Cruz’ joke about “being back in America” after spending time in DC.

It was comical, to be charitable to Chris.

It should be 21 minutes—one for every hour of his filibuster.

Democrats and "progressive" Republicans continue to make this national conversation about "health care," or about "health insurance.

The so-called "Affordable Care Act" (Obamacare) never was about "health care." That national pre-occupation was the "Trojan Horse" of "progressives" used to hide the imposition of government control over the economic affairs of a formerly free society.

To continue to engage in debate in the semantic terms of the Left masks the threat to liberty America faces.

The only real antidote to lies is truth.

Lies about the legitimate role of government must be countered with the "self-evident" truth embodied in the Declaration of Independence and the structure of government provided by the Founders' Constitution.

That is why any citizen who aspires to become spokesman for liberty must arm himself/herself with the weapon of truth, as revealed in those two documents.

That candidate cannot go to combat with charisma, with popularity, with attractiveness, with rhetoric, or with popular semantic trickery.

That person cannot go to combat with a shallow, second-hand knowledge of Ronald Reagan's words and ideas.

That person, in order to counteract the Left's attack on the Republic, must care enough to seclude himself/herself for whatever period it takes to immerse himself/herself in the ideas, writings, and speeches of the Founders of America.

Such a person will be able to knock down, one by one, the false and counterfeit ideas of his/her opponents.

The threats to liberty are too great, and rescue from the certain demise of the Republic rests on an "enlightened" citizenry, one that can distinguish between truth and error, between individual freedom and slavery to government, and between liberty and tyranny. Any citizen up to the task of leading America back to the path to liberty should be willing to do what it takes to arm himself/herself for that task.

Obama, with his cleverness and shallow understanding of our Constitution's underlying premises, will not be a successful combatant with such a well-informed individual. He can, however, prevail over a person who only understands 20th and 21st Century talking points about cutting spending and limiting the size of government.

Some believe that Ted Cruz may have prepared himself for such a battle. Could the threat of his ability to discern and relate the ideas of underlying our Constitution account for such intense ridicule by so-called "Progressives" among the media and political elite?

What do you think?

I was there working the event. Standing room both upstairs and down. Great to see so many patriots out in support. Lots of media. The Blaze, Japanese and Norwegian media, AP, etc. were in attendance.

"What do you think"

I think it is better for Cruz and the tea party to focus on ACA rather than them focusing on taking my Medicare and SS away.

Wish I could have been there. Way to go Hometown of Arlington. And yes, I would have listened to him for 21 hours IF he had chosen to speak that long. :)
