How You and Your Family Can Escape Obamacare
PJ Media ^ | 10-22-13 | Bryan Preston

The Affordable Care Act runs more than 2,600 pages and now hundreds of thousands of regulations. No one knows every single provision that is in the law, which Congress did not even bother to read before passing it. Among its most controversial provisions is the mandate forcing Americans to purchase health insurance or face fines from the IRS. Those fines can even take the form of wage garnishment. Americans who fail to comply and pay the fine can end up in jail.

There is, though, a provision buried in Obamacare that provides a way out of having to comply with the individual mandate. Pages 107 and 128 of Obamacare stipulate that members of “healthcare sharing ministries” are exempt from the individual mandate.

Healthcare sharing ministries are non-profit entities created to allow Christians to pay into a fund and then tap that fund when they need to pay medical expenses. So there’s one catch — you have to be meet the healthcare sharing group’s membership requirements to join, and as ministries they maintain that you must be a Christian regularly attending church before you can become a member.

Healthcare sharing ministries can approve and decline claims, and rates can increase or decrease over the life of a policy. Some do not require physical exams before joining and do not turn down people with pre-existing conditions.

I do not now nor will I ever participate in obamacare. I checked with my provider and my insurance meets the requirements.

And my premium for myself and three family members is $34 a month. Deductibles and copays aren’t too much either.

As a full time expat, I am exempt.

Yep, and requiring that Pastor letter is just BEGGING for corruption.....pressure on tithing, etc. It is also opening themselves up to some lawsuits down the road I fear.

Wouldn't be much of a pastor if he's going to blackmail you for money. It's pretty easy to find a new church.

Key element to “not paying the fine” is to be certain you have no tax refund coming. The only collection provision apparently is deduction from a potential refund— and the “fine” being imposed for either not reporting you are covered, or reporting you are not covered. If you don’t report anything— well the letters start? who knows.

Everybody in NY and Hollywood with a Jewish name claims to be so.

Though, about 10%, actually bother to go to synagogue or practice the teachings.

.
Those are both false statements. The bill prohibits both actions.

You sooooooooo miss the point. What you just said, in defense of this absurd requirement, is to “pastor shop.” You also assumed this would be a problem for me. Frankly, if you can’t see the point I’m making, you are not understanding the issue.

Perhaps but as the law stands now it cannot be done. In fact, the law as written forbids it without ambiguity. I don’t think an executive order can overrule a written law.

Believe me, anything that can be used to destroy this piece of crap law is fine with me.

Exactly. For over a decade, I have been trying to point out the same thing. A doctor's fee, if it has not been driven into madness by regulation and lawyers, is really CHEAP. Probably comparable to a master plumber's visit, maybe less.

But the hospital? Using that is like using a Space Shuttle.

Considering that Elizabeth Warren says she’s Cherokee— that should be easy to accomplish. Want to see her at next year’s Cherokee powwow, chanting in native tongue or writing in Sequoyah’s alphabet. Thanks, Jack. good info

I don’t know what application process you are talking about. Old Order Amish and Old Order Mennonites are exempt. If I say I am Old Order Amish, who is to say I am not?

How can one ‘separate’ monies owed as an O-care tax? I wouldn’t put it past the IRS to say that any monies paid in taxes pay the O-care tax first, so any delinquent taxes are not subject to the restrictions of liens.
