DOHA - Saudi Arabia's intelligence chief has said the kingdom will make a "major shift" in relations with the United States in protest at its perceived inaction over the Syria war and its overtures to Iran, a source close to Saudi policy said on Tuesday.
Prince Bandar bin Sultan told European diplomats that Washington had failed to act effectively on the Syria crisis and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, was growing closer to Tehran, and had failed to back Saudi support for Bahrain when it crushed an anti-government revolt in 2011, the source said.

Jeez, I thought Obama would do ANYthing the Saudis wanted. I guess maybe he tried, but it wasn’t good enough. Next time he meets the Saudi royals, let’s look for a deeper bow.
Let’s not forget Lurch’s role in this fiasco.
I am not sure what to make of this...since the Saudis directly and indirectly fund Islamic Terrorism throughout the world....and fund many of the Islamic centers in the US.
Hussein Obama is also quite Islamic himself
Don’t trust either Hussein or the Saudis
Obama is a two-bit imam who wants to be Ayatollah.
The sauds are at odds with the Ayatollah class.
Good. F Off, Saudis!
We aren’t going to be your mercenaries anymore like we’ve been for the last 25 years.
Yes, I was wondering when we would hear from them. I wonder if they are pissed enough to sell their oil for something other then dollars? That would certainly get everyone attention.
The Sauds don't give a hoot about terrorism - they care about being the dominant country in the ME... their chief competitor is Iran.
Think of it like it's two rival drug gangs each wanting the police to shut down the other one.. The gangs want the police to do their dirty work FOR them because taking out a rival is costly. We're (the US) their police force - and the men and women of our armed forces are little more than paid mercenaries in the Saud's eyes.
Publicly, this gives more impetus for Keystone.
Privately, it’s a disaster as the Saudis get some of the best intel on radical Islam.

I am not so sure of that. The only thing keeping the US economy afloat is the Saudis pricing oil in dollars. Should the Saudi decide to change that we are in deep dodo.
We aren’t and never have been mercenaries for the Sauds.
There are times when our national and strategic interests are the same and times when they differ.
Changing the currency of exchange for petroleum fungibles will require an agreement larger than just the Saudis, but the market is moving in that direction, as are other commodities markets.
Basically, the Saudis want their cake and eat it, too. They want to be the ultimate authority in world Islam, they want their oligarch lifestyle, they want far above market price for their oil, and they want their bribes to totally control the corrupted.
What they don't want is to take any risk with their own precious butts.
That's why they buy US politicians, terrorist "rebel" groups, weapons for those groups, false flag operations, and try to buy the US military as mercenaries. Of course they are pissed when they don't get their money's worth, thanks to Putin and the UN Security Council.
Smells like ..... Smart Power
Adapt. Improvise. Overcome.
Thanks cll.
