Changing the currency of exchange for petroleum fungibles will require an agreement larger than just the Saudis, but the market is moving in that direction, as are other commodities markets.
Basically, the Saudis want their cake and eat it, too. They want to be the ultimate authority in world Islam, they want their oligarch lifestyle, they want far above market price for their oil, and they want their bribes to totally control the corrupted.
What they don't want is to take any risk with their own precious butts.
That's why they buy US politicians, terrorist "rebel" groups, weapons for those groups, false flag operations, and try to buy the US military as mercenaries. Of course they are pissed when they don't get their money's worth, thanks to Putin and the UN Security Council.
