The two workers, whose names weren't immediately released, died at the scene after they were hit by an eastbound train, sources close to the investigation said.

I haven’t heard much about this strike. Are the SEIU knuckledraggers still holding the Bay Area HOSTAGE with their shutdown?
No explanation given. But I suspect that they were standing on the tracks with protest signs, and the driver was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting them.
BART is a computer driven system, and the driver can only hold the doors open. I’m not sure if he can stop the train.
Guess some union thug was sending a message ?
It's still going.
The biggest news today prior to this incident was simply that the other of these two unions (Amalgamated Transit Union, ATU) announced its intention to bring the management's "last, best, final offer" to a vote of ATU members next week. (Earlier, no such vote was going to happen.) I somehow don't see this development as much of a sign of progress.
In contrast, there's no word of new talks.
I see. If so, then I suspect that the computer was not a union member.
the gates are all down
the lights are all flashing
and the whistle is screaming in vain
if you stay on the tracks, ignoring the facts,
you cant blame the wreck on the train
That, I can picture. The protestors around here (the Bay Area) see themselves as the State Bird, a pampered and protected species, capable of bringing the whole world to a stop.
Exactly. “Nevermind” time (again) with media on the hateful rhetoric.
Please. Don’t give them ideas. ;-)
Then it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump to emancipating the robots! :-D
They weren’t ‘workers’ if they were on strike.
The strikers have their martyrs. The tragic accident was caused by The Man!
After learning that the SEIU is one of the half dozen unions controlling the BART system, I realized that anything is possible.
Hell, they might have been sabotaging the tracks.
I can't buy into the notion that BART management considers safety of the system as a first priority to the point of monitoring the activities of all employees who are on the system right of way 24/7/365.
ARE THEY KILLING THEIR HOSTAGES NOW?
In a statement on Twitter, Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1555, one of two unions involved in the strike, said, “Our hearts go out to any BART comrades involved in today’s incident. In the midst of this BART strike, NO ONE deserves to die.”
Interesting message
There are other knuckledraggers involved.
I really learned a lot from the following link :
BART Current & Proposed Wages Oct. 2013
Unions Listed,
AFSCME American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees...
ATU Amalgamated Transit Union...
BPMA BART Police Managers' Association...
BPOA BART Police Officers' Association...
SEIU...
Non-Union
At the link, the number of employees in each union is listed, in addition to the current salaries and demanded increases.
Enjoy!
“Comrades”?
