Snip the answer
The base wants a leader who they feel is not going to sell them out, says a conservative GOP aide. Theyre deeply distrustful of the establishment, and immigration is one of those issues where the base feels they were sold out.

It was amnesty-plain and simple.
With respect, he didn’t take it. He earned it by filling the conservative void after Rubio committed conservative treason with his amnesty BS. Rubio is forever tainted in my opinion. You cannot trust anything he says now.

Who’d a thunk it?
Yep.
Nutshell.
Exactly.
Rubio coughed it up, end of story.
Cruz didn’t take anything from Rubio. Any currency Rubio had with Tea Party folks like me was squandered on his amnesty plan. Rubio was a nothing before Cruz came bursting on the forefront.
Still thanking the Lord that Cruz stepped up to the plate as the Rube’s mask slipped just a bit more day by day. Now to find more ready, able and willing to wear white hats and stand by Sen Ted to form his Conservative army.

Marco Rubio fumbled the tea party support with his stance on immigration “reform”. Nobody needed to take it away from him.
There is no “Tea Party Crown.”
Conservatives who desire a return to strict constitutionalism watch all the players on the field to see if they deviate from that path. At no point will any player “arrive” and still recieve support whilst abandoning conservative principles.
Rubio never had that wide of support. He preached his open borders crap to La Raza and other Spanish speaking audiences from the beginning. Many here pointed out this duplicity to a coterie of his true believers. We will probably hold their bad judgment against them for some time, and that’s fair.
Rubio is dead to me. He will never get my vote for anything. Ever.
Yep, and I find it interesting that NRO plays that down. I also disagree with NRO on a few other things here: First, Rubio was NEVER the tea party leader, tho his win over Crist was a classic tea party revolt win for sure. Second, the Values Summit is not a Tea Party group, altho there is certainly a ton of cross over for sure. Third, Idon’t think Tea Party folks sit around waiting for a Messiah. Most are indepdent folks who just want government the hell out of our way...

I kinda think this showed up in our last prez election, Romney’s base never voted. You’d think the GOPe could have pieced this together.
They are literally cretins, doomed to extinction. If they are not voted out, then when the leftists assume full dictatorial power second place will equate to the grave or a concentration camp. Unless they are holding out for Vichy status in the NWO.
Almost all Republican candidates are “against” Candidates, We only vote “against” the Democrat and not “For” the Republican candidate.
RUBIO sold his popularity and credibility to his mentor McWuss
Cruz is the real deal, Rubio is a phony.
Rubio is a traitor.
Conservatives are principled.
Conservatives will not follow those who would betray them.
