Vice President Biden welcomed Environmental Protection Agency employees returning to work Thursday at the agency's headquarters, providing muffins as well as handshakes and hugs.
Ninety-four percent of EPA workers were furloughed during the 16-day partial government shutdown, bringing the agency's operations to a standstill. The employees entering the William Jefferson Clinton Federal Building, which stands outside a Federal Triangle Metro station exit, also received a memo from EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy reminding them that all government travel is canceled through Oct. 20, and they should turn off their "out of office" phone and e-mail messages. Biden, who brought high-end "Coffee Cake Bites that were apparently baked from scratch and free of trans fats, alternated between light banter and serious political talk during his visit.
I brought some muffins! the vice president said as he arrived at the security desk, putting the muffins down. Seeing a sign on the desk that read that All visitors must be escorted at all times, he declared, Id like to be escorted!

They should refuse those muffins.
Somewhere in the process of baking them I sure that carbon was let into the atmosphere somehow.
They should only accept food cooked on a solar oven instead of the Easy Bake oven that took Joe two days to cook these muffin one at a time.
I bet Joe doesn’t know how to work a solar oven.
Back to the salt mines. Pumpkin spice muffins and coffee breaks.
Whenever I found any jobs that I acquired on my own, I never got any muffins.
He’ll be escorted to Hell soon enough.
"...they won't trust the donut dullard with any thing sharper than a muffin"
Anybody else notice that the world did not end when the EPA was +90% shut down for two weeks?
I didn’t.
Just damn you Nixon.
What pi****** me off is that they are all going to get paid for that little “vacation”.
If the muffins are like his charity reported on his tax returns, he brought them 3 day old muffins from the floor of some roach infested bakery.
One of my co-workers is married to an employee at the local Social Security office. He was NOT furloughed during the shutdown, though his paychecks were deferred, but expressed some resentment that the people who were sent home will be paid anyway, the same as he is.
Ah, the equality of Government service—you get paid whether you work or don’t work.
“He was NOT furloughed during the shutdown, though his paychecks were deferred, but expressed some resentment that the people who were sent home will be paid anyway, the same as he is.”
I understand his issue with that (as someone in the private sector myself), but as a public employee he probably shouldn’t complain. Is he just annoyed that they got to “sleep in” while he had to drive to work to sleep?
(Just kidding; I have no idea what kind of worker he is)

more like the slime oozing out from my tv set
Given that I read today that government worker will be paid if furloughed, 94% were given a 16 day vacation on our dime
Watch for a new dollar a gallon tax on fuel to be arriving shortly.
