One of my co-workers is married to an employee at the local Social Security office. He was NOT furloughed during the shutdown, though his paychecks were deferred, but expressed some resentment that the people who were sent home will be paid anyway, the same as he is.
Ah, the equality of Government service—you get paid whether you work or don’t work.
“He was NOT furloughed during the shutdown, though his paychecks were deferred, but expressed some resentment that the people who were sent home will be paid anyway, the same as he is.”
I understand his issue with that (as someone in the private sector myself), but as a public employee he probably shouldn’t complain. Is he just annoyed that they got to “sleep in” while he had to drive to work to sleep?
(Just kidding; I have no idea what kind of worker he is)
