Was the Point Republicans Made in the Shutdown Worth the Price?
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 16, 2013 | Gerald F. Seib

Posted on 10/17/2013 2:47:59 AM PDT by lbryce

The Republican Party's tea-party adherents believe they made an important point by setting in motion the events that led to this month's government shutdown, ill-fated though that shutdown might have been.

The question they and the rest of their party now are left to ponder is this: Was the price paid worth the point made? That question, in fact, now lies at the heart of what figures to be a full-fledged struggle over the soul of the party, and over who really leads it.

Sounds like a question only a Democrat would ask. If what you're doing is the morally upright thing there's never any need to ask such a dumb*ss question.

Even if all sorts of political situations were being played out, even if the Republicans did demonstrate political reasons for the shutdown that were not noteworthy, the bottom line is, no matter what the criminal Democrats and writers like this guy want to conjure up against the Republicans, forgetting all the rest of the bullsh!t, the Republicans were being apolitical in getting the government to shut down.

All the frenzied feigned scare-tactic histrionics the Democrats tried to put over Americans, the bottom line is that the Pusillanimous Pinhead of Profligacy had to be stopped, just only to make the point, for that alone it was worth it, Mr. Seib, as being admirable and moral, without question absolutely worth it.

The point made was worth it. Too bad that the house caved and let 0bama out of the shut down caused by Reid and 0bama.

Any time Evil is confronted, it is ‘worth’ it. The fact that the frailties of Republican Leadership once again showed its true mettle is also ‘worth’ it because it steels the resolve of true conservatives and it also tells real America there is a deep, deep problem - Right here in River City.

What point? In the end, Republicans caved as predicted and on schedule. Just another of a long list of embarrassments. There’s a lot of chatter going on about establishment Republicans being in bed with the Dem’s so to punish conservative and Tea Party members. Some say the objective is to purge the GOP of this segment. I say so be it. Let’s get on with the show. I support Conservatives and Tea Party members forming a third party. Some say if this should happen the Dem’s will never lose another presidency. So? We haven’t won since Reagan - even when we’ve won...

Was the Point Republicans Made in the Shutdown Worth the Price?

Mao Tse-Tsung once said, when asked about the results of the French Revolution, "too soon to tell".

We are not very good at the long game.

The "Tea Party" phenomenon rejects the status quo, because it dissolves the Constitution over the long run, and requires state socialism to rescue the government from its malpractice of the last 100 years. The 2010 election terrified the Republicans more than it did the Democrats.

We should not be surprised at the reaction. Elections will always favor preventing chaos.

The forces in power now will win, and win again, by promising an escape from the very chaos they are themselves creating. There is no going back, only forward.

Our job is to be ready to pick up the pieces, because it does not matter how many Obamacares and automatic debt increases the Democrat-GOP coalition passes, the result will be the same.

Alia iacta est. Vis pacem, para bellum.

As long as the shut down was in effect, republicNs were actually getting to tell their side of the story and they were scoring points against ocare and the left. People got to see the true petulant Obama and hear the arguments. They should have held the line and refined their rhetoric.

Those who voted in favor of giving 0bama everything he wanted are cowards and traitors. I would not want any of them on my side of a real fight. I’d find myself alone as soon as the first shot was fired. Not a Patriot among them.

It was Obama that was willing to shut down payments to military and seniors if the house did not give him everything he demanded. How could the fail to make that point?

It seems the values and principles that we learned were integral to American society become scarcer each day. Integrity, Homor, Duty. Punch lines from bad jokes. They are not. They are bedrock reality. As He said, “I AM the Truth.”. Lacking these no enterprise persists.

Just as bacteria resistant to the antibiotic persist on the plate after it is wiped clean of the rest, those of us who insist on these in our lives and interactions will persist “in the wrath to come”.

They needed to ram the lies being told by the liberal personalities that think the ACA is;

(1) Affordable
(2) Everyone in the US is signing up for it

I watched some dumbA$$ on Fox News while waiting for my kid in the dr’s office yesterday afternoon - argue with some bleach blond those 2 LIES above...he said knowing he was lying...I have direct figures - as all of us who do research on here have - that health care cost are rising 3 to 4 or more times - people have been cut in hours down to Part time (costing money for the individual) - they have no insurance - premiums are going up - everyone who does sign up for this illegal program will get coverage they don’t need - 1 blanket policy for everyone - the current health system is being destroyed - and the Conservative - instead of getting the truth out - instead of holding massive riots and holding the NEWS accountable for continuing the LIES — fold and say they will be back in JAN/FEB...while the rest of us have no job or a part job - looking at paying large amounts for a health care program that is going to fail - while not earning money and then paying more money out of pocket for a stupid federal run waste of time program!

It’s over people — thanks for coming to what was the US of A!

For myself, every time I read an article about health costs rising, doctors leaving practice, long waiting lines, screwed up web sites, identities stolen by navigators, etc., I will think of the courage Ted Cruz and Mike Lee had to stand up and say: "The Emperor has no clothes." With a little help from us, others will as well. A simple means to make this point will be to just say: "Cruz was right."

In addition, my disgust with the media has reached new heights. Nothing but propaganda; even liberals are starting to see this.

What made it worthy to me is that a lot of varmits got flushed out into the open, who staked out their adverse positions in front of everyone in broad daylight. We now know without a doubt who the enemies - as well as friends - are, so yeah, it was worth the effort.
