Republicans Back Down, Ending Crisis Over Shutdown and Debt Limit

WASHINGTON — Congressional Republicans conceded defeat on Wednesday in their bitter budget fight with President Obama over the new health care law as the House and Senate approved last-minute legislation ending a disruptive 16-day government shutdown and extending federal borrowing power to avert a financial default with potentially worldwide economic repercussions.

With the Treasury Department warning that it could run out of money to pay national obligations within a day, the Senate voted overwhelmingly on Wednesday evening, 81 to 18, to approve a proposal hammered out by the chamber’s Republican and Democratic leaders after the House on Tuesday was unable to move forward with any resolution. The House followed suit a few hours later, voting 285 to 144 to approve the Senate plan, which would fund the government through Jan. 15 and raise the debt limit through Feb. 7.

If only all the rest would be honest about their trolling. Of course, he probably OPUSed because he was reassigned to the IRS or TSA.

This e-mail was sent to me by a friend....I really don’t know what to make of it....

Did anyone besides me wonder how they got all those signs printed and distributed far and wide, including to all the national parks and cemeteries overseas only eight to ten hours after the government shut down? Take a look at this from someone who wanted to remain anonymous.

I have worked in the government on and off for 40 years. During that time I became quite familiar with requisitions, bidding, awarding contracts etc. It is a time consuming process with bean-counters and pencil-necked bureaucrats every step of the way. The simplest request takes months not days or hours.

In less than 8 hours of the shutdown, miraculously, professionally printed 3X4 foot signs appeared all over the country in the tens of thousands saying-“this [park, facility, etc. with custom logos] closed due to government shutdown. There has not been a government shutdown in 17 years. These signs were designed, specifications were determined, signs were then requisitioned, bids were posted and vetted, government contracts were awarded. The materials were then ordered and the signs manufactured then distributed U.S. Mails or freight companies.

This shutdown was orchestrated and planned well in advance at least 6-8 months ago. Millions of tax dollars were appropriated and spent in this process. There is a paper trail a mile long leading directly to the White House.

Maybe the House Republican leadership read ATLAS SHRUGGED by Ayn Rand and decided to take the advice of the author?

After all, it appears to be inevitable that in the not to distant future the USA will default on it debts and go into hyperinflation that will wreck what’s left of the economy.

Of course, the urban mob will go absolutely ape when the welfare stops, and civil war will rule the land for years to come as the federal government collapses.

What then?

Perhaps the rise of the Free Republic...

“If you saw Atlas, the giant who holds the world on his shoulders, if you saw that he stood, blood running down his chest, his knees buckling, his arms trembling but still trying to hold the world aloft with the last of his strength, and the greater his effort the heavier the world bore down upon his shoulders - What would you tell him?”

I…don’t know. What…could he do? What would you tell him?”

To shrug.”

Wait until the process stories come out on how this temper tantrum costs 24 billion.

If 24 billion was all that 0bama had rung up over the past six years, I'd be dancing a jig and celebrating.

Your little socialist has done damage many magnitudes greater than the figure you've thrown out, and he's still got two years worth of cringe-inducing economic destruction left. Not to mention the 0bamacare nuclear bomb that will smash into the rubble still standing and usher in America's permanent status as a third-world economic basket case.

I still have trouble fathoming how you democrats can find any joy or happiness in turning a once great nation into a penniless laughing stock.

To say you people are certifiably insane doesn't even begin to scratch the surface. You are all deeply, deeply disturbed.

Lol, and democrats like you whine about how you get treated at conservative sites.
It’s the lack of honesty about who and what you are, the lack of integrity that speaks of a character severely lacking in decency that is why you get treated the way you do.
But hey, enjoy your obamacare mandated identity theft, fraud, and higher premiums with longer waiting lines to see your doctor!

“Have you seen your daughter’s NSA file, Mr. Republican Congressman? Have you been audited, lately? You should see the stuff we have on your primary fundraiser!”

And if Obama said that to a "real," American, right then and there a response like the following would be offered. Leaning in real close to him, and almost whispering it.

"Barry, have you seen my match shooting scores? If you show off your NSA "stuff," I'll show off mine.

"In the mean time, get back to us when you are ready to "talk."

Nearly everyone here voted for Romney last year. Next year, same **** different dude. Anyone who balks will be mercilessly insulted, denounced, shunned.

I think for many, what they’ll remember on election day, is where past elections have gotten us...and instead of voting for the lesser of 2 evils, this time, they’ll vote their conscience and for the best man for the job, regardless of party or affiliation. I pray, at least, those who have awakened in the last 5 years, and now see the corruption in BOTH parties, will have learned from their past choices/mistakes and vote accordingly.

I was listening to Robin Leach today, he’s a great human being God bless him..he was telling Stuart Varney how he came here over 40 years ago for the American dream, to get away from Socialism, which is just another tame way of saying Communism, he said look at America right now, he said its very close to becoming the Communist country he ran away from..look around, we are almost there and it scares the hell out of me

Ironic isn't it? In some/many ways, Russia is freer than we are.

Its scary seeing what is happening to our country..seeing how far left its going. I dont even recognize it anymore..the pure hatred coming from the left..I dont know if its social media that brings out the crazies but the disgusting things that come out of their mouth I bet they wouldnt dare say to someone’s face..they want Communism, they want the total destruction of Capitalism..people living in Communist countries fled their homelands to get away from that garbage, they come here and experience the same thing..Robin gets it, he experienced it, Stuart Varney experienced it too, they get it, too bad so many Americans refuse to see it

So Republicans wasted a unique opportunity, had Obama and Reid in their sights, and came out with nothing at all.

You’re pathetic, you seem to have no life and now want others to go on your twitter to talk to you.
Are you so lonely that you have to seek people on here to talk to you?

As for us looking bad, I suggest you look to your media and then look at the facts as the only people who think we look bad are the ones who watch the MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN etc
