In light of a deal struck by Senate leaders to reopen the government and avoid default on the countrys debt, CNNs Van Jones cheered what he viewed as a humiliating defeat for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) who expressed his dissatisfaction with the compromise, while saying he would not take steps to block it.
Jones appeared on CNN shortly after the Senate announcement along with his Crossfire co-host Newt Gingrich. Wolf Blitzer began by asking the former Speaker of the House if he would have voted for this legislation if he were still in Congress. I have no idea, Gingrich said, explaining that he would need to see the fine print on the bill before making an assessment.
Van Jones, meanwhile, hailed the bill as a big deal that could ultimately affirm the governability of the United States. He praised heroes who worked behind the scenes like Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) in contrast to Cruz, who went down to a humiliating defeat today as he deserved.
But for Gingrich, today is a very sad day for America, because the president adopted a strategy of vilifying his opponents and refusing to negotiate and it worked. Without fixing the Affordable Care Act or entitlements, Gingrich said we were just kicking the can down the road.
Naturally, Jones saw things differently, commending President Obama for refusing to negotiate with a party that has been hijacked by its far right-wing. He added, The president stood up to the bullying. Im proud of the president today. Im proud Harry Reid today. Im proud of McConnell today. Im proud of Amy Klobuchar. I think Ted Cruz should be ashamed of himself.
Jones summed up his point like this: Nobody wins today, but Ted Cruz loses today.
Wanna drown?
Just keep letting the other guy continue to push your head under water until you give up, not out of pain but, an inability to fight on and end someone’s aggression against you.
This will all be explained away by certain irrelevancies about being “smart and strategic”.
Disgusting.
Make Bammy put back all his waivers and exemptions and make sure they go in effect January 1.
Youll see a tidal wave GOP win after 11 months of original recipe Bammycare. Delaying it a year means nobody get to feel the pain prior to the election.
Its time America gets the goobermint they voted for. Instead , the morons in the GOP will save Democrats from themselves.
The best way to get a bad law repealed is to enforce it strictly.-Abraham Lincoln
The article lost me on the first sentence.
Not raising the debt ceiling does not equal default.
Even with the Dems wanting default the next interest payment isn’t due until 15 Nov. and IT WOULD BE PAID WITH TREASURY RECEIPTS, no action by politicians required.
Equating not going into more debt to = defaulting on debt IS A HUGE PROPAGANDA WIN FOR DEMS.
2 or 3 men don’t make an army to fight a on large battlefield. We all knew the Reps would cave, it was only a matter of time.
Van Jones can go fukushima himself
The U.S. just got its EBT card recharged. Time to head to WalMart and the liquor store.
The only ‘default’ is the GOP leadership’s inability to have a spine. Polls and public opinion rule the land even if it means choosing to do the wrong thing because the public cannot think for themselves.
I think your humiliating defeat of having to drop out as “environmental advisor” to president zero due to your association with communists and your zeal for the communist line was wonderful. I guess you didn’t want them digging deeper into your commie affairs, eh, dude?
Humiliating? Cruz is still on the job, sucker, and you aren’t.
Politicians have just played their usual game of “kick the can down the road” and Cruz will still be harassing obama and Valerie for the rest of their term.
CNN who? No one’s watching....not even at the airports.
Cee Ya in Jan Van
I just wish Cruz would do one thing. Demand an apology from Reid or slow it down.
If the Tea Party in congress doesn’t get rid of boner, they now fall into the “worthless” category.
And who is Van Jones. A smug black communists.
What would you expect from Valarie Jarrett’s favorite Communist?
And if I was on the opposite side of the table, when it came time for a reply, I would always preface it with pointing out that Van Jones is a communist.
'Tis better to have fought and spent
Your courage, missing all applause,
Than to have lived in smug content
And never ventured for a cause.
For those who try and fail may be
The founders of a better day;
Though never theirs the victory,
From them shall others learn the way. ... Edgar Guest
This is the dawn of a new day, with new leadership coming to the GOP in 2014. Imagine Senate Majority Leader Cruz being sworn in January, 2015.
If real fighting starts... van jones will not be around to run his mouth. These people want what will destroy them.
I am a little confused here, and I think that is the plan to confuse people like me.
First of all this is CNN reporting which means it can’t be trusted. But I have more than just a mistrust and more than just a mind for conspiracy.

The above is a link that just 15 minutes ago was listed on Google Finance but no longer appears.
In that link CNN is touting an end to the shutdown and debt ceiling deal. But here are the key words:
“House lawmakers have not yet decided on when to vote on the Senate bill, according to a spokesperson for majority leader John Boehner.”
So I have the sense that CNN is propagandizing and trying to ‘shape’ views, opinions and project conclusions.
