Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits. Additional Links Computer issue, not government shutdown, likely cause of EBT card failures
The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended.
Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, "It was worse than any black Friday" that he's ever seen.
Lynd explained the cards weren't showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn't press charges if she left the food.

Visit the walmart nearest me then. Every single employee is black. I’ve never seen any non black employee there in the 6 years I’ve been shopping at that particular walmart.
It actually took me several years to notice. And now it’s like a game. Spot the not black employee. So far we’re zero for zero with that game.
Which, btw, does NOT match the roughly 50/50 demographic of this particular area.
Never seen an Asian of any type in my Wal-Mart. There are 2 Asian families in the locality, both own local eateries. Perhaps they don’t shop at WalMart.
That photo is very Atypical of any Wal Mart I’ve been in in a 300+ mile radius of my home actually.
You need to get out more.
And the Walmart mentioned at the Clarionliar link likely has all black employees (who were letting their buddies rip off the system. They’ve very nearly closed our local walmart for the very same thing. Kmart DID close for this reason) and mostly if not all black customers.

No. The computer glitch rendered the cards unusable in that they all carried a balance of $0. Wal-Mart recognized the glitch and made the decision to give people the benefit of doubt by allowing them to purchase against their zero-balance cards thinking that they could recoup the money for the purchase later once the glitch was resolved.
Unfortunately, the looters took advantage of this grace by making purchases which far exceeded any balance they could possibly have for the month. Once the glitch was resolved, Wal-Mart discovered that there were people in line who had very little remaining on their cards, yet there they stood with a shopping cart loaded with $200 worth of groceries expecting Wal-Mart to allow them to walk out of the store with the loot.
The part that really sucks is that my grocery costs will now go up to help offset the loss that Wal-Mart has now incurred. And next month, these looters will have their same monthly allotment recharged onto their cards courtesy of my wallet.
I will have to see that happen first before I believe it. Even better would be to see fraud charges levied, leading to lifetime bans for any entitlements.

You are claiming that Walmarts only come in one flavor, not me, I have different Walmarts than you locally, and I travel, I’m not the one claiming they don’t vary.
Did the walmarts local to you have to shut down to prevent rioting when the EBT cards stopped working?
Did they just ‘allow’ orders worth hundreds of dollars to walk out the door to prevent riots?

Because I’ve been to the Walmart in Philadelphia. And I’ve never seen an Asian checkout person. I’m not sure there are even any Asians IN Philadelphia Mississippi. And the wider shot of that picture contains NO black people at all. A statistical improbability in the Philadelphia Walmart.

Oh make no mistake. I’ve moved to the ‘whitelandia’ that’s most of the midwest and northern suburbs as an adult. I lived in Africa as a child. Betcha my passport has more stamps than yours...

My high school was 50/50. Ditto our community and general neighborhood. My roomie in college was black.
When I lived in the NE I worked with white people who’d never gone to school with anyone other than white people. Or lived in a neighborhood with anything but white people. Or gone to church with anything but white people. And told me frankly they’d never consider moving to the deep south because it was (sotto voce) ‘too dark’.
The Clarionliar knew exactly what they were doing when the posted the picture of the all blonde whitebread family at a walmart in whitelandia along with the article about the looting at the walmart in Phil Miss. Those of us who’ve read the clarionliar for nearly 40 years know this from experience.

How many of your local walmarts had to either close, or accept massive food losses to stave off violence when the EBT card system went down? How many customers, on discovering their ebt cards weren’t going to work, declared ‘imma burn dis place down!’.
Would appreciate an answer to that one...it would tell me how realistic your ideas of what’s coming up when we do eventually default are.
You really are rambling, if you want to talk to someone about a possible default you need to find someone posting on that, perhaps on a thread about that.
