PHILLIPS: The last days of the Republican Party
The Washington Times ^ | October 12, 2013 | Judson Phillips

Posted on 10/12/2013 1:05:58 PM PDT by Conservative Beacon

The Republican Party was born in the darkest days of the American Republic.

In the next few days it will die.

The Republican Party saved the Union and abolished slavery. The Republican Party stood against Franklin Roosevelt’s internment of Japanese Americans during World War II and against Jim Crow laws in the 50’s.

On a hot summer day, the most famous Republican of the Twentieth Century stood before one of the great icons of tyranny, and over the objection of his cowardly, country club Republican advisors, Ronald Reagan demanded, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!”

In 1975, Reagan told conservatives to raise a banner of bold colors, not pale pastels. Today’s Republican banner is the colorless banner of John Boehner’s freshly laundered white flag of surrender.

The Republican Party will die of suicide by cowardice.

I came to the conclusion that the GOP just plainly does not share my views or my values, in any shape or form. This was proven to me when the Republican leadership and its slimeball beltway class joined with their lib pals to repeatedly trash and belittle Palin after 2008. Then it happened again, when it took all the energy and enthusiasm of the tea-party movement in 2010, and proceeded to toss cold water on it... all in order to pave the way for a Massachusetts liberal to clinch the nomination. A liberal who helped spawn Obamacare, and facilitated homo marriage. Now add the GOP’s dogged determination to pass amnesty and put the final nail in the coffin of America.

That’s it for me. The end of over three decades of support and affiliation. To my dying day, I’ll remember the backstabbing of Palin and the Tea Party, and curse the bastards of the GOP-E. Watershed moment.

Sewing on a new patch to fix the old? Sounds like epic fail to me.

The leaders are correct, but a third party [right now] will destroy the country. Not a good thing.

I said a "NEW PARTY". There is only ONE party currently. The Dems and Repubs are two wings but represent the same bird.

The Country is currently in an ongoing state of destruction because there is NO representation of the Conservative POV.

The turd is circling the bowl.

Last election you could either vote of Obama or Obama Lite (Romney)

A NEW PARTY is our best alternative believe me.

Absolutely nailed it!

And from the ashes may Cruz, Palin, Lee, and others emerge with a new party; a party of bold colors; a party of guts, determination, and resolve.

Michael Needham: Strategist Behind the Shutdown
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3078148/posts

[snip] The 31-year-old Stanford business grad explains how he outmaneuvered GOP leaders and why he thinks House Republicans can defund ObamaCare. ‘I really believe we are in a great position right now,” says Michael Needham, the 31-year-old president of Heritage Action, the lobbying arm of the nation’s largest conservative think tank. By “we” he means the Republican Party and the conservative movement; their “great position” refers to the potential to win the political battle over the government shutdown... In August, only Mr. Cruz and a band of renegade tea-party Republicans in the House favored this approach, and the media collectively scoffed. But by September, House Republicans couldn’t pass a budget without attaching the defunding rider that has grounded much of government... To most observers, who think the GOP is losing this fight, Mr. Needham’s optimism that Republicans will carry the day may seem astonishing. But Mr. Needham says the second-guessers are wrong. [/snip]

You absolutely nailed it. Republicans no longer stand for, nor represent conservative beliefs and priciples. It has been this way for years but conservatives are finally having a “come to Jesus” moment.

Yes, and we need to show no mercy to those that do backdown.

Be interesting to see how quickly the TP overtook the RP

It would be pretty quick because today's republican party is too similar to the democratic party while the Tea Party is much more distinct.

The nation does not need two democrat parties

Even if today's democratic party was not as evil as it really is there would still be no need for two of them. Look what today's democratic party did to the Communist Party USA by being so similar. GOP or the DNC would be doomed, my bet is the DNC would survive easily out of the two. The GOP does not know how to survive, that's why conservatives really should start a third party.

Yes, there are those that say 3rd Party=Democrat victory... well at least we would rid ourselves of at least one of two socialist parties.

3 parties won't work, but 4 parties each with about 25% market share would. A new freedom party needs to help launch a new freeloader party at the same time. The RINOS can focus on the crony capitalists, Democrats on the government clock punchers, and the freeloaders without any jobs at all could have a community looting organizer.

Possibly the kingdom form of government is actually better overall. If you don't like the king you just have to move once in your life. If you like the king, you're set. There would be no voter buying, politician bribing, no incentive to import third world voters or breed human pet voters.

I have the same gut instinct. I visualize something like a tidal wave. The GOP would go out of business overnight if the Tea Party stood up as an organized opposition party.

The only thing keeping them in business at present, is the fact that Republican voters feel they have nowhere else to go.

What difference would there be with the old GOP gone? Obama has been trampling them. They don’t know how to win even when they win.

The last 3-party election elected Bill Clinton. Before that, Bull Moose elected Woodrow Wilson. Only the left wing can benefit this time around.

A third party would be suicide. The only hope is for the Tea party types to out-primary the RINOS, forming the Republican party on Tea Party values.

We Americans really have nothing left to lose by starting a third party that represents conservatives. This is not Ronald Reagan’s republican party (even though there were moderates in the party back then). The republican “moderates” today are about where Clinton stood in the 1990s. They’ve moved left.

We have much more to gain than to lose. Even before this shutdown many of us knew that the republicans would likely lose the House thanks to Boehner.

What we need is a gang of many in the House & Senate to tell the GOPe that if WE do not get what we want we will LEAVE THE PARTY now. If they want Nancy Pelosi to be the leader so be it. I mean, how much worse can it really be without Boehner.

Remember how Joe Lieberman made such a threat to switch to independent when it was just one or two democratic senators from losing the majority? They listened to him and were careful not to cause him to leave the party. He had quite the power for some time.
