Paul Ryan Flashes Anger at Senate Republicans
National Review Online ^ | October 12, 2013 | Jonathan Strong

Posted on 10/12/2013 7:42:55 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with the House GOP’s talks with the White House to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling, suggesting his colleagues on the other side of the Capitol were betraying Speaker John Boehner.

“They’re trying to cut the House out, and trying to jam us with the Senate. We’re not going to roll over and take that,” Ryan told reporters. When asked if he felt “double crossed,” Ryan said “you look at the facts and draw your own conclusions.”

Senate Republicans, led by Senator Susan Collins of Maine, are negotiating with Democrats on a package to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling into next year with relatively modest concessions for the GOP.

Ryan said House Republicans only learned the details about the plan this morning, and added that he strenuosly objects to it. When asked which parts of the plan he objected to, Ryan said there are “too many to go into.”

One of the most significant differences between a House framework sent to the White House late Thursday and Collins’ plan is the length of time it would extend the debt ceiling. Boehner has put forward a six-week extension, while Collins’ plan has been reported to extend almost until February 2014.

At a closed-door meeting with House Republicans minutes earlier, Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a similar message to their colleagues.

“We need Senate Republicans to stand up and stand firm,” Cantor said, according to a person in the room.

Boehner said that in talks between the two sides, Obama had agreed to nothing and said the House would be holding its position for now.

“...The time for normal political means is rapidly fading.....”

That it is. These professional political hacks have NO IDEA the outage of the American People right now. Maybe that’s why they’ve brought in thousands of foreign troops to our shores in the past few days....several plane loads have supposedly landed near Fort Polk. IF true, I seriously doubt it’s just a routine “training exercise”. They know it’s just a matter of time. It’s coming and I fear that it’s gonna be ugly. To drive a peaceful, freedom-loving people to this end is just outright evil and an atrocity.

One group Paul Ryan never seems to get angry with is his “Democratic friends.”

They are all just one cocktail party away from being a RINO.

Like hookers, democRATS know what will lure them into the trap.

What are you smoking? The Ryan plan gives up the store in exchange for some vague PROMISES from a rampaging marxist. The kenyan will to agree to NOTHING right now. His prioirty is destroying the GOP ahead of 2014. Not entitlement reform. LOL. You seem to be believing a complete fairy tale, FRiend.

Ryan stuck crap in there for negotiations, the time being one of the crap pieces.

He cheerfully ducks the whole battle, for kudos, by misplacing the war declaration...Obamacare.

We’re rubes to be impressed with such chicanery.

Amen. Ryan needs to stick to his bottled water, if he can’t use his considerable brains to save the country from socialism, not drag out the clock to facilitate it. He’s done.

Ah yes, Case Argentina.

A marvelously sophisticated country goes down the tubes with national socialism, while across the Andes Chile prospers with a rather more free-market approach.

However, there must be something in the water. Both countries have largely european populations, although Argentina is browning up fast with illegal immigrants from less wealthy neighbors. But in prosperous Chile, saved from castro-Style Sovietization by Pinochet's Administration, there are Leftists in Chile trying tosubvert prosperity as we speak.

I trust Cruz and a handful of others. The rest are bleating sheep facing ravenous wolves, including wolves in sheeps’ clothing like McCain.

Perfect counter point!

In the USA we think we are above economic forces, but this is just hubris. We can fall just like the British Empire fell, but I don't believe a war will be involved. We are embracing national socialism with fascism/crony capitalism serving as an intermediate stage.

Both countries have largely european populations, although Argentina is browning up fast with illegal immigrants from less wealthy neighbors.

Great point illustrating another similarity between our plight and what we've seen happen to other countries.

Collins is a Northeast yankee and not really a Republican nor An American for that matter.

I'm a Yankee and so is my Tea Party governor Paul LePage.

As Cruz hews to hard line, other 2016 contenders go mute on shutdown
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/bloggers/3077997/posts
[snip] ...in the aftermath of Cruz’s fiery speech... The shutdown went unmentioned by Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), both early champions of the defunding battle. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), who is working toward a compromise with the White House on the shutdown and debt ceiling that does not erode ObamaCare, made a short argument for his alternate plan in Friday afternoon video message to the group... Paul’s and Rubio’s dodges, and Ryan’s implicit rebuke, demonstrate that they are seeking to avoid being tainted by the fight’s fallout while avoiding any confrontation with the party’s base. Cruz used his speech to frame the debate over ObamaCare and the government shutdown in stark terms, painting it as a key battle in the larger war for individual freedom. [/snip]

Every now and then the folks in Taiwan and/or SKorea have a real duke out on the floors of their parliaments. Kind of refreshing to see someone get a bellyfull of “niceness”. There’s a certain level of snarkiness, like, oh, say Shumer’s, that requires a left hook. A little fear of an actual hit goes a long way toward courtesy and tranquility—— and progress for that matter. If this bunch of milk duds can’t get it done then the “flex” will have to come from outside the hallowed halls. And it WILL come.

For Pete's sake, the House had months to go to Conference after the Senate passed a budget last Spring. They did nothing. Then Congress went on a 5 1/2 week "vacation" last August and September, knowing full well they had this mess on 1 Oct.

Enough of this garbage.

For Pete's sake? What about America's sake? Since conservatives won the House in 2010 the House has sent MANY budget proposals to the Senate that have been DOA.

There has been NO budget passed since 2009, the right has been compromising with one continuing resolution after another all this time WHILE the Senate hold American hostage to a 2009 LEFTIST budget!

I would not trust anything the Senate originates; regardless, it has been the Senate uncompromising and it should be the Senate that NOW compromises and takes up a House originated budget. The People's House has compromised enough. The federal government is still spending DOUBLE what Bush spent his last year in office. It is time to CUT spending.

It may come but you are wildly over stating it. Most Americans don't have a clue about what is going on with the government. They are far more concerned with Duck Dynasty, their favorite team, crazy Wives of and other mindless pap.

Take permanent entitlement cuts and revision of the tax code today, take the Senate next fall.

There will be no significant entitlement cuts under this President. Further, Ryan is offer to dilute the sequester as part of that deal, a step backwards. Also, controlling the Senate won't help kill Obamacare, since there will be a Presidential veto until January 2017. I guess you could horse-trade it for another socialist on the Supreme Court, but I'm sure you would not favor that. Finally, Ryan's position on immigration is anathema to the country's best interests.

Paul Ryan lost me when he watered down his budget proposal in March of last year to position himself under Mitt Romney's wing. We see where that straying from principle got him.
