Minutes after concluding a meeting with President Barack Obama, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) told reporters outside the White House that there would be no negotiations with Republicans until the House passes a “clean” continuing resolution which ends the government shutdown.
Reid began by saying that the government must reopen and the debt ceiling must be raised. “We, if that happens, will negotiate on anything. Anything,” he said.
Reid indicated that the Senate would consider a resolution from the House that extends the debt limit but does not reopen the government. He added, however, that the House has to act first before Senate Democrats could commit to a position.
“There is so much pain and suffering out there,” Reid said. “It’s really tear-jerking, to say the least.”
Roll Call reporter Steven Dennis noted that the Democratic position and the Republican position are at odds with each other. He asked if there was any way to reconcile the GOP’s request that there be negotiations on reforms before the government reopens.
“Not going to happen,” Reid said before leaving the podium.
These Dems think people aren’t going to blame them.

If nothing is resolved, the president will declare all of the employees as essential employees. Besides they’ve already agreed to pay them at some point. So the only card that the republicans have is the debt limit.
Then, enough.
Republicans, go home and spend some time with your families. You’re not going to win the propaganda wars anyway, so piss on it. Leave the darkside someone’s cell phone number in case one of them gets a random surge of common sense.

I’m in MA and I have to say that I know a lot of people who think the Democrats are being jerks. It’s not like this state is going to turn red, but the bloom is off the rose a bit.

I don’t remember Harry doing any negotiating before the shutdown.

The Republicans need to constantly remind people that the Democrats cannot be trusted. Say it over and over. They cannot b trusted to negotiate cuts, real tangible cuts.
They own it. You’ve heard of ‘Dog Shaming’? Demo-Shaming is next.
Here’s a first sign these mutter can wear around their necks:
‘We agreed to pay 96 million to start-up the Affordable Care act, but wound up paying over 600 million and it still doesn’t work.”
Keep in mind that dogs, however, can be ashamed while Democrats cannot. Feel shame, that is. They just issue stern denials.
Any Republican who agrees to this is a eunuch.
