Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick was sentenced Thursday to 28 years in prison for corruption, the apparent last step after a series of scandals destroyed his political career and helped steer a crisis-laden city even deeper into trouble.

Kilpatrick, who served as mayor from 2002 until fall 2008, fattened his bank account by tens of thousands of dollars, traveled the country in private planes and even strong-armed his campaign fundraiser for stacks of cash hidden in her bra, according to evidence at trial.

I remember that, it made the Detroit papers because he drove all the way to the north of the neighboring county to cash the check and was caught on tape at the liquor store cashing it. The guy’s a certifiable sociopath.

If kwame hadn’t gotten caught he’d have been an obama administration cabinet member by now.

I said it a decade ago: Detroit citizens should lose their right to vote. Just imagine if they had their mayor, police chief, etc. appointed for 10 years or so.

Any city that cheers when a woman is brutalized over a fender bender, stripped of her clothes, and forced to dive from a bridge and drown while an entire traffic jam cheers the thugs on — that city is too evil to have any right to vote. They lack any sense of honor. In most places, the thugs would have been wrestled down and held for the police.

I was just saying on other thread how Saddam Hussein got the key to the city in Detroit in 1980! Saddam would have been a better mayor than most of the ones they’ve had in recent decades. Kwame is a gangster who family business is politics instead of selling crack. In another life he’s a common street pimp.

Kwame was one of the most racist political figures in American history.
Part of the reason that white owned businesses left the city was because it was impossible to get a business license under his tenure if you were white...

Where would our cities and many African nations be without African leaders?. Where would the US be without ours?. Criminals in leadership positions are not a good thing.

We should be a little more Soviet or Chinese in our approach - this POS should be drawn & quarted. All former Detroit mayors (except Dave Bing) should be drawn & quarted as well. Even Coleman (marbles in his mouth) Young should be exhumed and drawn and quarted.
Let the vultures clean up the mess.

Enough is enough. 28 years is not enough. He should either be executed or serve a life term with just enough food to keep his fat a** alive. Him not being able to stuff his fat face at 6 meals per day will be like torture for him.

Good riddence to scum.

What event was that? Do you have a link? Detroit sounds like Sodom & Gomorrah and I grew up there!!

The ONLY good thing about Detroit are the sports teams...(oh well, excluding the Lions), ethnic foods like those found Greek town, Coney Island hot dogs and bagels.

The rest of the city never made it to their motto: “Renaissance”.

I’ve thrown the ole “Nearly every major city aka sh*thole in the USA has had a RAT mayor for the last 40+ years” bomb at libs.

They have no answer for it.

The party of corruption is still in business only with the help of the voter.

The funny part is that Kwame is no different than 90% of the rest of the nation’s Democrat mayors.
It was only the brazenness of his corruption that got him caught. Most mayors are sneakier about their corruption.

I think your point about Democrats having no morals has to do, in part, with their ejection of Judeo/Christian values.

I don't just mean that they have no faith...but they even reject the values that are built into our country and its system of governance.

Without Judeo/Christian values, there is no reason NOT to cheat...particular when one is cheating an infidel or Whitey. That's just fair game from their POV (just like raiding was fair game for the Barbary Pirates in Jefferson's day).

I have read that in the Arab world, there is no such thing as a "lie". For those cultures, the "truth" is whatever is believed. I agree with you that America's precipitous decline syncs up with the decline in Judeo-Christian values. And, of course, it's not just the politicians and the government. As several pundits have noted, America can survive Ubama but America cannot survive the people who elected him.

That is also the view of post-modernism (Obama is both post-modernist and muslim). No truth.
