KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) The closure of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park has sparked a call for a protest.
Appalachian artist Jeremiah Spelas told the Associated Press that he is organizing a protest on Saturday at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park entrance sign on Newfound Gap Road.

By what criterion? So far a number of people have been given citations by the Park rangers. One the flip side NO federal employee will lose any pay. On the good side the rangers haven't gunned anyone down yet.
bttt
This mountain is closed.
The Federal government has mandated that the stars may not shine and the Sun is forbidden to come up by order of his royal POTUS until and unless Republicans cave in to all of his demands and then he will pretend to have dialog with them.
So it is written, so it shall be done.
Etc, etc, etc...
People who are moved to action should (hopefully) be motivated to drill down for the truth.
Someone should and will do this -
get enough people to have several videoing,
and MAKE the “ranger” use force or threat of force on you.
Glad to see them too, but I suspect the vast majority are wetting their matresses and hiding inside so bits of the falling sky won't hit them on the head. Personally I'm enjoying the government shutdown if only to hear the wailing of liberals and the TV news desperately searching for sob stories.
In another vein...Get rid of the EPA...we didn't need it before. It's just a hammer for the Nazi environmentalists.
The threat of force is present in EVERY interaction we serfs have with law enforcement.
Yes, that’s something I, from time to time, nail “good liberals” with - there’s nothing you want the government to do that isn’t done with an implicit threat of a gun in the face.
They hate that. They’re liberals because they’re “good people”, and “good people” don’t put guns in people’s faces.
But my point is that it needs to be on video - a representative of the government, drawing a gun or shoving a citizen around, because they are “recreating”.
Give it time. Though I don't knwo where it will go from there. There aren't all that many options available to citizens. They can comply. They can do as they're doing now and practice civil disobedience, or they can get into a shooting war with the rangers. I personally don't think it's worth getting into a shooting war over a few park closures, so the current course of civil disobedience seems to be the wisest course.
You do know that the vast majority of the people in this country believe it’s the GOP’s fault for not approving the budget bill........
The park ranger staff for the smokies down from 350 to 36 - and they’re pissed. Yeah - they’re trying to make it as hard as possible.
$125.00 fine if they catch you...
We are only winning if we don’t quit and we only win when the perpetrators of these atrocities against the nation are punished.
Never forget and never forgive what is being done. Never let them hide, never let them rest. Fill your hearts and minds with a relentless resolve for justice and punishment. If you have to salt the wound to never forget, do it.
None of this hateful, lawless spite against the nation can be allowed to go unanswered and unpunished.
The King sends the Sherrif of Nottingham to close Sherwood Forest. Where is our Robin Hood?
Is US Highway 441 from Gatlinburg to Cherokee closed??? That is the ONLY road that traverses the entire park...
