GOP complaint: Ted Cruz is no team player
Washington Post ^ | October 7, 2013 | By Jonathan Capehart

To say that Cruz is not held in high regard by Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill is an understatement.

...That lack of strategy certainly rankled one influential Republican member of Congress, who bemoaned President Obama’s disinterest in rescuing the GOP from itself to a bunch of reporters last Thursday, speaking on the condition that he not be quoted by name:

“[L]ook, Cruz and company lost a lot of influence in the House when he gave them exactly what they asked for and [Senate Republicans] couldn’t produce what they promised. Most of us thought they never were going to be able to produce what they promised. But some people did. And if you remember, [what] dropped from the junior senator’s talking points pretty quickly was, if the House stands united, then there’ll be 41 Republicans standing strong. Well, there weren’t. There were 19. I mean, he couldn’t even get a majority of his own conference. He couldn’t get the majority of the minority in his own body. So, look, he’s pretty gifted at positioning himself and he’s a brilliant communicator. And I probably agree with him on 95 percent of the issues. But I’ll tell you one thing: He’s never played team sports in his life.”

I reckon it depends on what "Team" the gutlessly anonymous GOPer is talking about.
If it's Team Big Government (with its GOP scrubs) who play by Marxist rules he may have a point.
However, if he is talking about Team America who plays by the Constitution he is sadly mistaken.
God Save the Republic.

Ted Cruz was not elected by the People of the State of Texas, to become any other legislator’s bunk buddy!

“I choose Cruz!”

Ted Cruz was the only one who knew to get in front of the Obamacare disaster. Otherwise, their strategy of figuring out how to get votes in the future from the disaster would've meant shared blame....and Obamacare.

The only reasonable conclusion is that these RINOs have something to gain from the implementation of Obamacare.

You have to wonder what Nicholas Schmit III thinks about the IV.

I think Lee went on record saying he and Cruz were ASKING about any other alternatives....and the leadership was silent.

So if not being a team player means not surrendering, and having SOME SORT of plan, then I applaud him.

Is there a lower form of life on planet Earth than a member of the media?

They all attacked him from the get go because of their usual fear of what the MSM will say about them - which they are going to do anyway. They might as well stand up and fight.

The one’s that aren’t team players were the ones that ran to the dems. They don’t support the team, they support themselves. Imagine the lefty’s doing that? No chance.

When Goldwater ran in 1964, he got much of the same treatment from both parties. He lost the election but started a conservative movement that elected Reagan, who also was called an extremist until he proved to be such a great president.

So are we sure this was McCain, who is the disgruntled “influencial” member of the Senate they are talking about???

I guess McCain is more upset that Cruz is getting more attention than this poor excuse for a senator...

I guess McCain would be better of just quitting and allowing Arizona to elect someone a little more amiable to the original intent of our Constitution and reasonable conservative principles...

Something he seriously lacks...

Hey Arizona!!! You know I love your state and its people, but y;all could do so much better, if this is the case...
