To say that Cruz is not held in high regard by Democrats and Republicans on Capitol Hill is an understatement.
...That lack of strategy certainly rankled one influential Republican member of Congress, who bemoaned President Obamas disinterest in rescuing the GOP from itself to a bunch of reporters last Thursday, speaking on the condition that he not be quoted by name:
[L]ook, Cruz and company lost a lot of influence in the House when he gave them exactly what they asked for and [Senate Republicans] couldnt produce what they promised. Most of us thought they never were going to be able to produce what they promised. But some people did. And if you remember, [what] dropped from the junior senators talking points pretty quickly was, if the House stands united, then therell be 41 Republicans standing strong. Well, there werent. There were 19. I mean, he couldnt even get a majority of his own conference. He couldnt get the majority of the minority in his own body. So, look, hes pretty gifted at positioning himself and hes a brilliant communicator. And I probably agree with him on 95 percent of the issues. But Ill tell you one thing: Hes never played team sports in his life.

Teds “team” is his constituency NOT the GOP or even the Senate. Too bad all Congressmen don’t think and behave like Ted Cruz. A truly great Patriot!
Sure he is.
You just don’t like that he isn’t on your team.
I’m going to bed.
To the GOP, go pound sand. Go take a long walk into the sea, and take a dump! (It’s better in Yiddish)
The Jews are sick of you, and they are a very small minority. But you are really just a money whore!
You know what Jonathan Capehart?
I never played team sports either.
Today team sports consist of every one having group hugs and everyone gets a prize.
Bahhh!
Oh I know the value of a team.
But I reserve the right to go it alone.
Excellent point.
We hired him to stir the old guard up.
He has been brilliant.
Yes. He is smoking out the hidden opposition.
The GOP can to go Hell. Ted is on our team.
WP is censoring conservative pro Cruz comments on this article. Just FYI. Flood it FReepers!
OMG. . .so many RINO's; so little time.
Ted Cruz represents his constituents. He has honor.
That comment smells of envy.
BTW, I know I am preaching to the choir here.. but the non-Conservs in the party need to go the way of the Whigs (whatever it takes).
Ted seems to be working just fine with Mike, Rand and Louie plus several others.....
McCain is just upset that he has been “exposed” as a “Establishment Toadie so called Maverick”
The question should be why aren’t the other GOP senators on Ted’s team?
“Oh no, Cruz is messing up our old boys club here for everyone, why won’t he get on board and feed at the trough like the rest of us, there’s more than enough taxpayer money to go around, but he’s putting the brakes on our gravy train! Plus, Pelosi crossed me off the guest list for her next boozer!”
“If Cruz doesn’t shut-up, the constituents are going to actually get the idea that we’re here to represent them!”
What’s the odds right now as to whether this is McCain, Graham, Boehner, or another of the usual suspects?
It’s so funny to hear this meme being pushed that Ted Cruz has ‘no plan’. Are they all daft?
I hit up that idiot Charlie Dent who pranced over to CNN to declare his frustration with Ted. Suggested he might want to shy away from dem talking points lest folks get the idea he is on the wrong TEAM. Oh, and the plan, for the sad sack, get me a waiver/exemption, stop spending, pretty simple plan.
What planet did I land on??!

Capehart advised and wrote speeches for Michael Bloomberg during Bloomberg’s 2001 run for the mayoralty of New York City.
