Reckless was the talking point word of the day Monday as South Florida Democrats sought to turn up the heat on Republicans, blaming the partys tea party faction for the partial government shutdown and attempting to show how people are being hurt.
This shutdown is irresponsible, infuriating and reckless, declared U.S. Rep. Lois Frankel, a Democrat who represents mostly coastal Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Congress has been hijacked by 30 or 40 radical members who oppose reasonable solutions. Its been a week, because of a tea party tantrum, the whole country has been paralyzed, she said. Enough is enough. Its time to reopen the entire government.
U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch, a Democrat who represents northwest Broward and southwest Palm Beach County, said whats going on is irresponsible and reckless and dangerous.
This is a situation we find ourselves in because there is a reckless and extreme wing of the Republican Party that originally decided to shut down the government over their opposition to [Obamacare], a law that passed three years ago, that the Supreme Court has upheld, and it is an action thats unprecedented, Deutch said. ....
At a separate event, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Weston, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, issued her own criticisms of Republicans at a Fort Lauderdale airport news conference. She was joined by breast cancer survivor Carolyn Newman who said shes saving $7,000 a year on health insurance she found through the new Obamacare marketplace.
It is unconscionable that Republicans have shut down the government to prevent Carolyn and millions of other Americans, access to quality, affordable health insurance, Wasserman Schultz said. She later added, via Twitter, that House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, is afraid of challenging the most extreme voices in his caucus.

Start by taking back the Everglades.
Who cares what the Democrats say? They’re liars.
I wish 30 or 40 conservatives in congress could really hijack everything.....these people are delusional, intellectually dwarfed, just pathetic.
Allen West should still be in Congress. Damn the GOP!
How many of these Democrats in south Florida are northern transplants?
He may run against Rubio. That would be interesting.
If I was a liberal Democrat in 2013, I’d be pissing in everyone’s face too.
No one anywhere is lifting a finger to stop anything these people are doing (until now)...
The South Florida Dems have nothing to fear because they’ve learned how easy it is to rig elections and come up with millions of bogus absentee ballots. The corruption in that area is so thick that you can smell the stench of it, fueled by drug money and the crooked banks that launder it.
The desperation of the Left/Democrat Socialist Party is palpable. This is great theater — pure emotional drama - but entertaining to watch these adult temper tantrums.
Hey, dufus, go talk to your buddy, Harry. He and Obama have a thing going to kill America and her spirit.
Some fifty years ago, we tried to stop the immigration, but some federal court said we couldn't. Darn.
"We have to pass the bill so you can find out what's in it."
Passing a bill that nobody has read.
That's right up there with:
"We have to get married before I go out on a first date with you."
"You have to buy my house before you can have it inspected."
These ought to be the Republican talking points in response to charges of being "reckless."
People are starting to see how much ObamaCare is going to cost them. Democrats are in a panic.
HEY!!!!FRANKELSTIEN, who's the dope in WHAT PARTY,,,,that shut down Mt. Rushmore and the Amber Alert website in a tantrum????
Oh, dems got tired of accusing Republicans of being arsonists. Wow.
I love the smell of hyperventilating red diaper babies in the evening.
Flak is the thickest when you’re over the target.
South Florida Dems cannot even vote properly. Who cares what they think?
Everything about Obamacare is the very definition of RECKLESS.
From its inception behind closed doors, its forced passage through Congress, the failure to read or understand it, and the blind, unquestioning support of this abomination. That is reckless!
