Another open-air memorial in the Washington area is closed and barricaded off: the Iwo Jima Memorial, just across the bridge from D.C. in Rosslyn, Virginia. A source sends along this picture of the barricade set-up at the memorial, which is also called the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial:
"I took the picture yesterday afternoon. Those barricades had been there at least a day. People can still walk into the Memorial area, but for many elderly and disabled vets, it is important they be driven and park right next to the statue," the person who took this picture emails.
"There has been no coverage of Iwo Jima being closed and it is a routine stop for Honor Flight visitors."
The source adds: "This picture is from North Marshall Drive (100 yards up the hill from the 110) facing the only road in and out of the Memorial for cars. There are parking spots for cars and buses right next the Memorial that can only be accessed via this road. Interestingly too, the view you see is also the last 200 yards of the Marine Corps Marathon which is in three weeks. That would be 20,000 pissed off runners who have trained for months."

They should bring tents, coolers and port-a-potties and occupy them.
Yeah I read that, that he was a fan of Reagans and became embarrassed by his Imagine song. I guess he realized it was glorifying communism. Plus 2 million Cambodians getting slaughtered probably didn’t weigh too lightly on his head. “Give peace a chance!”... Oops!

500 pounds? is that all? If I was there I’d be tempted to steal it by myself. They shouldn’t leave small stuff like that just laying around. Anything I drive could haul it and it doesn’t look to have anyones name on it? Call it a public service by clearing the road.

We are winning. Using Alinskys rules, true, but now that Obama is The Man, those rules will work.
The memorial is a symbol of the greatness that WAS once the USA. 0bama hates that.
God Damn them! My late father (WWII, Korea, early Vietnam) helped pay for that memorial!
Yikes, you could be right. I’ve never seen plastic JBs; just the concrete units. The 2 ridges on the back look like connect-pin points for a front-end loader/plow’s hydraulic arms, but I’m thinking you’re right. Heck then, drain it and move it!
The US gets to keep the golf courses. The monuments and parks teach of America and American history and greatness.
